New 2024 Suburban no sound from speakers

Last week I purchased my wife a new 2024 Suburban. Upon driving it off the lot I noticed no sound was coming from the speakers. I test drove it and it did not have that problem. I turned around and took it right back in. I was obviously pretty upset being that it was so expensive and brand new. They told me it just needed a software update. Well its done it twice since then and again tonight. Zero sound. Any advice on what I should do here? I'm pretty ticked off and not sure what action I should take. I'll certainly notify them and tell them I expect it to be remedied, but the dealership is two hours away and its a pretty big inconvenience having to drive it up there. Any thoughts on how I should handle this?

If you have a Dealer closer you may try them. You can take it to any GM dealer in the US which includes Chevy,GMC, and Cadillac.

With the car being that new, I'd be a royal PIA to the Dealer, until it is fixed once and for all.

Sadly, they gave me the "This is a known issue and a software update should be coming." I asked them why they didn't tell me before I drove it off the lot if it was a known issue and they said they didn't know. I then asked when the software update was coming, and they didn't know. Ultimately I told them to unwind the deal as I wasn't spending the money on this vehicle that wasn't working properly out of the gate and while I know issues happen, it was unacceptable for a new vehicle. They protested, but ultimately when I threatened legal action they relented without much else to say. So now we are back in our 2017 model and will keep looking around.

So is this just a permanent issue that customers have to accept? I would be surprised if such an issue can persist continuously without any planned fix.

I don’t understand why it happens in some cars but no all of them. I’d look to replace the radio/nav head. Reprogramming the whole truck
Have you tried the control alt delete shutdown of the nav/radio unit. Clear the cache memory

You can try doing an infotainment unit reset to see if that helps. You put the vehicle in park, then hold down the "end call" button on the steering wheel for about 10-12 seconds. Let go, and you'll see the infotainment unit reset. I've had to do that a couple of times due to some wonky stuff with the Google maps or the speed limit signs not showing up, and it has worked for me. Might work for your issue.

I’ve had to have two radio/audio updates with a couple weeks or purchase last year.
We absolve this truck, and have experienced 34mpg a few times. But mostly my heavy foot and Texas road speeds in the 80’s keeps it in the 28.5ish range

I have had several trucks have a issue over the years but they were not brand new but still under 3/36 and I found that on the Yukons if a speakers resistance is either shorted to ground or the ohm's values were incorrect at the speakers it would take the system down. I would go to the amplifier or the main source where the speakers have there output and take a resistance reading to eliminate the speakers from the system. Intermittent issues are harder to find but if it's a hard fault they should be able to narrow it down. Software can also make you chase your tail so if tech line is telling them it's a software issue then they have to stop before any repairs are attempted.

I have a problem where my iPhone seems to take over I reset it to Xm radio
Sometimes it appears like the google or radio doesn’t fully go through it’s reset before I start driving.

I have the same issue going on, I figured out how to get it back running again as I have worked on computers and tech stuff for years. When Microsoft use to mess up you would boot it in safe mode. You have to do the same thing with the radio system. This guy on Youtube has it made a video, he deserves a thank-you for the work. Radio Fix
It would be equally helpful to figure out to force it to fail, so until they come up with a fix we can avoid what makes it break

Update.

After two drive cycles, the sound returned at the start of the third drive cycle.

I have a feeling this issue will continue.

I had something similar happen, but only the Radio audio did not work similar to the posters earlier in this thread. I had not seen the info about switching to "Safe Mode", but through process of elimination did find "Safe Mode" and enabled it and the Radio audio returned so I knew I did not have a Radio hardware problem. Then switched out of "Safe Mode" and everything has been fine since.

The other thing to keep in the back of your head is the how to "Reset/Reboot" the Infotainment system. Vehicle has to be running and in Park, press and hold the End Call Button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds or until the Infotainment display goes blank, this will force a "Reset/Reboot" of the system.

Sorely disappointed in the processor power in the 2024 and earlier Infotainment system performance. Seems to have enough "Hard Drive" capacity, but between the processor and RAM it comes up short and is WAY too slow. Takes 45 seconds for Waze to load and open on my system with Waze installed on the Infotainment system. I have been through the system and cleared the Cache for each individual App and this did not seem to do much. Even when I do not launch Waze, Maps seems to often take an eternity to launch.

Some people blame the Android OS, but its not Android, I have been running Android devices for 10 years on various platforms and never had anything as slow as this Infotainment system. The real issue is the Infotainment system in the 2024 vehicle is the end of the road for the hardware platform that probably started development back around 2017 or 2018 in order to get the hardware and software ready to launch by 2021. This is true of almost any integrate platform in a vehicle, so often the hardware or at least the processor is almost obsolete before the first system is delivered. Would be great if someone could find a drop in processor that could be updated even if it was soldered to the main board to increase the speed and response on these systems.

While we may see an Android OS update or 2 over the next few years, I doubt this will sort all the bugs. I also do not see a lot of Application updates or bug fixes from GM coming our way either, they have moved on to the newer generation systems and are fighting with them. The worst case situation is if GM outsourced the support for the 2021-2024 systems and did not have long term support contracts in place and/or the development team fragments over time, then we all stuck with buggy systems. Most of this new tech stuff has about 3 year support lifespan these days!

The 2025's are SO much faster and have more features like YouTube and other App available and the system is snappy but I hate the big screen in the 2025's this is specifically why I purchased a 2024. But I doubt we will ever see anything like the 2025 system performance in our systems due to hardware limitations.

Same bug in my nov 24 purchased 24 yukon... i take my battery off over night. this fixes it for at least three or four months. i am monitoring battery voltage on mine.. i kind of think a low battery.. causes the battery to charge hard when you the start.. that seems to be a trigger for an outage.

Not happy with GM... 7500 miles on it and an owner is not happy...

Other threads on this Forum mention the battery as a possible or a contributing issue. My 2022 Denali does have short radio drop outs and loss of presets from time to time, but never a complete turn off. I am planning to get a new battery for the 2022 soon.
