new 2 din

after countless hrs looking at different HU online trying
to find that has close features to my kenwood kdc-x979
and i found the sony xav-72 bt 2 din under $400.00 this

unit has mixed reviews i think i will order it tonight.
need to go to the junk yrd to get a dash bezel to cut up
for this 2 din now i will take the dvd player out the floor
console and keep a eye out for a esc or late model yukon
for the console.

ive been doing the same thing. That unit looks good, will have to add it to my list and read about it. Post up pics and review if you get it and like.

today i went to the junk yrd to get the dash bezel to cut up AND there is a
99 escalade with the floor console of coarse it's not grey
interior it needs to be cleaned and painted anyway there
was 30 min before closing i took the top panel off and
found a $5.00 bill that paid for the bezel. I will go back
in the morning with the right tools to get it $10.00 for it
and $5.00 more if i leave the bose sub in it. i wonder if i
can use it or change the speaker in it?

Dude thats awesome! Easy to paint up man! Great deal for sure. Wouldn't get the sub though.

Well i got the console.... i left the bose sub & wires all the contols
the amp and got that 4x4 shifter cover out the 03 truck and a
third brake light $15.00 what a good day. The third brake light
i want to install a good rear view camera on it some how.I got it

in the basement ready for me to take it apart to clean them plastic
pieces. oh! i can repair the rear cup holder hinge. i will post
some pics on www.photobucket.com/qlcp And slipping my sony will
be here sat i will play with it on my work bench until i'm ready to cut the dash
and i bought a dummy 2 din face plate that fits over it.

You sure can use the bose sub. Mine is working just fine with a 250W single channel alpine amp...Any more than that, and you risk blowing it.

thank fellas i still need to play with the settings and read the manual
while on the thrown the dvd pic is great. with factory tabs mounted
on it if something to it i can slide it out and put the old HU back in.

i made a template after i finished the dash bezel to i will upload
to photobuc and the esky floor console

This is sweet and looks awesome. Im jealous of the esky console, I've been looking for one for almost a year now with no luck. Did you have to reinforce the dash to support the extra weight of the double din?

no not at all i used the factory mounting location and i cut
the slide brackets off my fac cd player and mounted them on the 2 din. more pics
