so i have a 99 4x4 2 door tahoe. i was looking into installing an alarm with a remote pager but i wanted to shave the door handles from the exterior and put in door poppers thatll open with the push of the button on the pager. now im a pretty hands on kinda guy and i know how to install stereos, sub woofers, amps and speakers but have never attempted to install an alarm before so any tips tricks info or other threads with helpful info is more than welcome. i tried searching other threads but didnt find a sticky or a tutorial on how to install an alarm or if anybody has taken a try at installing the automatic door actuators or door poppers that i wanted to. can anybody please help?? thanks

alarms are really easy your hoe should take about 30-45 tops to install just power ground door triggers siren park lights shock , tilt, motion sensors which ever you install and just make sure your alarm has a extra output to use for your doors you will be fine if no one else pipes in i can post the wiring for it when i leave the shop this afternoon for ya...good luck

yeah most alarms should have an aux power... basically it is an extra 12v source that you will wire the output to your door poppers.. then there is an extra button on your keyfob.. you hit unlock then you hit the button and bam..

I will recommend to a get a alarm with more then one aux channels.

Also you could check out bulldogsecurity.com for your wiring diagrams and after that is just follow the instructions of your alarm installation manual.

thanks for all the replies all the info is really helpful thank you!!! it doesnt seem like wiring the alarm itself should be too difficult but are there any specific alarms as far as brands or models you guys recommend?? but as far as the door poppers go how hard are they to install? has anybody on here tried to install them or have some tips or trucks or instructions?? thanks

is there i way i would be able to program the door poppers into the stock keyless entry remote?? i would have to sacrifice the pager remote so the pager alarm would have less use but i was thinking if there was any possible way i would connect the door poppers to open with a combination of buttons on the stick remote if i could i would install just a simple alarm nothing to fancy.

Have a related question.

Getting the Autopage RS915 alarm for my 99. Do these vehicles come with the PASSLOCK system that I need to get the bypass module for?

=o!! thats a really good price for the alarm thanks jose!! i was looking around here at some shops that would install it and they were charging around 150-200 for a simple alarm but is there any door poppers anybody would recommend?? im going to take the exterior handles off and weld in a sheet of metal and shave the door handles but looking for a good reliable set of door poppers that wouldnt be to hard to install myself.

+2 for Autopage

Most if not all their alarms come with additional open channels. They also offer a subsription service called C3 which essentially turns your cell phone into an additional 2 way key fob, giving you unlimited range.

Interfacing the door popper with the alarm is as easy as hooking up to an additional output channel on the alarm via relay. Keep in mind the more channels your alarm has the more stuff you can do, trigger defrosters, headlights, strobes (if equipped) etc.
