So I was in Boston a couple weeks ago with some friends helping a friend of mine move out of her apartment. I get back to her house and I notice a bunch of dents on my hood. There is one really ****** oone that looks almost like a crease that is like 8 inches long right in the front going back towards the windshield, then there are a couple of other smaller dents on it, and one on the edge of the hood on the passenger side.

I don't really want to take it to a shop and just have them filled in, so I'm thinking maybe I'll just order a sweet aftermarket hood and bolt that on... but I really can't decide. I was poking aorund Stylin' Trucks and saw all these:

I have seen other hoods with out cowls or ram-air that look sweet too by I don't really know where to find them. What do you all think? Anyone have any recommendations?

I've been lookin for a new hood too, sorta leanin towards one of a silvy hd hood, those stylin trucks hoods seem a little pricey tho, gmpartsdirect has a few of the oem style hoods for not too bad, tahoe hoods seem to be around $200 atleast for my '04 and around $260 for a denali, I'd prolly rather go thru them cuz 1) it's about half the price and it still has to get painted and 2) hood are hard enough to align without worryin about havin to trim it incase it wasn't stamped right and is off center........also not a huge fan of cowl hoods , just my opinion tho

whose the cheese dick that dented it???

If only I knew... =\ I came back from Boston and just noticed the dents. For all I know it could have happened in the city when it was parked or something and I didn't have my eye on it. Sucks sss.

I have been browsing around gmpartsdirect and this site is a pain in the balls to navigate... how do I find Silverado HD hoods with images to gander at? Also, how do you have to modify them to fit on the GMC?

yeah that site is a pain to go through and unless its a new part, there doesnt seem to be pics, only illustrations, the chevy hd hood is part # 15745931 for 99-02's i believe and is $315 on gmpartsdirect or, not sure what part of mass you live in but there is a certifit in randolph and according to the website they are $208.

not completely sure on the specifics needed to get a chevy hood to fit a gmc but just by looking at it i can atleast say the front corners where your headlights are, chevys are for the most part straight across where denali has cutaways for the headlights, not sure what else, i wana say there is a write up on gmfs maybe ?

I think I want to get the HD hood after looking at some modded ones on GMC's. It looks sick and tough, but more subtle and less showy than a ram or cowl hood. From what I have read it's not too bad, you just need to grind away the front corners for the headlights, sand it, and it's good to go.

There is a chevy dealership down the road from my house that has a full service station that I could probably order the hood from. I think I might check there.
