Find a turbo set up for it. They're making a big come back lately, and they're built much better than the 8o's with a lot of different options. Look into it.

Im not trying to go the fabrication route. Reliability is a factor. With a wife and three kids ride along on long trip everything must go smooth. No one that I know of has a bolt on turbo kit for this truck.

I think your heart is set on a s/c anyway. Id go with that, and tell the manufacturer what it's intended purpose on your truck is so they can sell you exactly what you need.

Yes it probably will yield different results but you can do what I did and contact Comp Cams and see what they recommend.

The cam is Comp Cams LSR .607/.614 219/227 112LSA 54-456-11 is the SKU with that I had to run the dual valve springs.

I called comp cams and I was shocked at the cam I was recommended. I told him what I needed it for and that I had no power adder

54-456-11 ....... Here is the link. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1085&sb=2

Seems rather small to me

That's not that much more lift than stock. Stock is a little under .500 lift. That cam wont have a really choppy exhaust note.

Maybe ask the person you talked to or emailed what they think about the cam I have in your truck. I have seen a few dudes with the cam I have in their 4.8s.

Video that made me want this cam. (In a 4.8L)

going from 3.73 to like 4.10 gear you will notice your fuel consumption greatly increases i never recomend gears like a 4.10 unless using the vehicle to tow a heavy trailer or extreme offroad applications or strictly drag racing
my last truck had 4.10 gears and now this tahoe i have has 3.42 gears i totally notice the difference the mileage is alot better plus driving down the highway at 75 my engine isnt tached out like my truck used to do

I run 4.10's and can drive from Houston Tx. To spearman on two full tanks and a half of fuel and I only have a 20 gallon tank, I also have a fully built 4L80 tans and a Circle D converter with a 2800-3200 stall, shift kit , and a 6.0L with a Texas speed stroker kit heads cam TBSS intake LS2 throttle body, Walbro 400LPH fuel pump.

I'm at 2200-2346 RPMs at 80+ MPH

Ok so my wife said it was the tanks not two and a half.

Well the day came and went. I had no choice but to use my 01 Denali to pull my 30ft 7900lb toyhauler over the weekend. It actually surprised me. With minor mods and a cookie cutter tune I managed to pull 209 miles on a tank of fuel and still had a little under a 1/4 tank left. My average speed on the freeway was 65mph and the truck really didnt labor at all. All I did was do a massive maintenace tune up and installed a hand held tuner I borrowed. I changed every fluid and every filter. Plus a new set of Delco plugs and wires. I'm satisfied. The Supercharger will have to wait for now.

Thanks for all your help guys. I'll tackle the supercharger in November.

I am new to this forum, but after reading your thread, you sound a lot like me. I tow a 35' TT and have three kids and two dogs so a big truck was out of the question. We had a 3/4 ton burb but it was only marginal, because it had 3.73 gears. Our solution was to swap in an 07 LBZ duramax with the Allison 6 speed and HD Truck 11.5 rearend. Ours is 4wd so the heavy duty T-case went in also. This can be done with 1/2 tons also. It is incredible what a boat load of torque will do for towing, simply said, awesome. It was way cheaper than a truck or even a used Excursion with a diesel and I got to keep my favorite Suburban. Look into it under the Frankenstein section of the Diesel Place forum.
