Carbon fiber wrap looks good David!

Thanks! It's my temporary solution until I decide to drop the cash on hydro dipping everything.

I love this cupholder so much better than the other. Obviously a lot less room but I think it looks 100 times better.

Yeah I agree it looks 10x better. I just don't think I could give up the space. For such a large SUV, storage space sure is at premium :(

Whew. Long thread, but lots of good info pertaining to my plans for the XL.

First: Did your G4s have any mechanical problems? You just went to G5s for aesthetics?

Second: How have the U2s held up? Would you recommend them? Rubbing issues? 305s or 295s?

Third: Still happy with the 2/4 drop?

Thanks.

Hi GMM, thank you!

Yes, I switched to the G5s because I felt they looked much better. The squared edges rather than rounded corner of the G4 looks a lot better IMO. It made more sense for me to get it as well because of the escalade bumper, and 3rd brake light.

But to answer your question no they worked perfectly for me. I'm sure you'll notice after some research though that it seems like getting a perfect pair of G4 lights is about a 50/50 shot or worse.

My U2s have held up great so far, but it has only been a month. For what they are worth, I think they are a good rim. I paid $1850 shipped, tires mounted and balanced. If I were to do it again though, I don't think I would get them.

I almost feel as though they're too 'gangster' for me and would prefer a rim without lip.

As for tires, my 295s still rub at the back if I load up, and I have done a lot of trimming. Front still rubs at around 3/4 turn if I'm going slow, or in reverse/uphill. I can't image having 305s.

I'm very happy with the drop. It was my first time dropping a vehicle, so I waited until I came across a used Kit. It makes a huge difference in appearance, but naturally a big difference in ride quality.

However, I would still recommend a 2/3-4 drop any day of the week.

If it wasn't my daily, or if I didn't have to pay for college lol, I wouldn't hesitate to get an air bag set up, or go 5/6. I think it looks awesome.

Sorry if that was a little long, just hoping to give you as much info as possible.
:)

Thanks for the reply. I prefer the look of the G4s over the angularity of the G5s but hesitate due to wide spread quality problems. Did I see a pic you posted that the "tail light" is only 1 vertical row of LEDs and the "brake" lights up all of the LEDs at a higher intensity? If so, that's goofy and would be a deal breaker for sure.

Where do you have rubbing in the rear? First I've heard of rubbing there. I thought it was just up front?

Still debating which wheels I like best. I do like the simplicity of the U2s. Frankly, I'm considering going 26s. I like the 375s, but only in 24. Haven't checked into whether they're even available any more. The other is chrome KMC Slides.

Hopefully, the truck will be available in the next few days. They only list a "projected out of service date" of 5/11. I'm hoping the rebates goes up after the first of the month. That would be a nice bonus.

Thanks.

Yes, that is how they light up, because they are escalade replicas, which also light exactly the same. The outside row is on full intensity when they are on though.

It is hard to explain where I rubbed, but I will take a picture of what I ended up trimming.

If I lived in a city with nice roads, I'd be driving 26" chrome slides. There is just no possible way to run them here unless you buy 8 rims at a time lol.

When I picked my wheels I also contemplated getting the 375s, but opted for the cheaper U2s because it was my first big wheel purchase.
Hopefully, the truck will be available in the next few days.

How'd you do the carbon fiber over the wood grain?

It's just like vinyl wrap, I cut a square to size, slowly laid it on and used a heat gun to smooth it out. It was very hard for me to get a good job done on all of them. The bigger pieces were more difficult for me.

Auxiliary lights I ordered for the bull bar are here :)

Dropped the truck off to get shocks and rear diff cover changed so I will be putting those on later today :)

12" is 72W and 20" is 126W. They are Cree LED light bars at 6500K. 1/3 spot and 2/3 flood.
