It is going to stay in the family. Too clean to let out of my sight. Hell my daughter has driven it more than I have. Was her first car. I just adjusted the governor to shift early and bread tied the secondaries so they wouldn't open.
About a year ago I had some emergency medical bills, so my old man has it in his garage till I get him paid back. I can take it whenever i want but out of respect i only do car shows if he goes with me. He loves driving it though. He gets the " I remember when these were new" vibes lol.
I have wanted to do a 5.3 and 80e swap, but hell it has less than 10k miles on the drivetrain. And if i do a 200-4r or 700r4 swap the 3.73 will be a livable gear. Otherwise, i have a 3.08 im doing a disc conversion on with S series Blazer parts. That way i can get replacement parts from any box store.
I really like the idea of keeping it in the family, plus letting your daughter drive it as her 1st car. Pretty cool dad. I'm not sure how far you've read into my build thread. I had an 87 GN that I've had since around 96/97. Bought it with 43-44k on it. Got it when my son was around 6(he's 32 now). I also wanted to keep it in the family, so I gave it to my son. He offered to buy it from me, but how could I have done that?IMG_5155.jpgIMAG1395.jpg

Unfortunately, I was never a good money manager. There have only ever been 2 vehicles I would like to have kept in the family. a '69 F150 that belonged to my grandfather, and a Ford Explorer that my father painstakingly restored, including the manually locking hubs.

That said, I did buy a 2003 Sierra Denali for my youngest and, except for the gallons per mile, she loves it. My oldest daughter has the Suburban she has always wanted, but not really a family heirloom item. The Sierra has Quadrasteer, so it is a bit of a unicorn.

Man I LOVE G bodies. I had an 83 Cutlass Calais 2 tone blue with a 307 Oldsmobile.
One of my good friends had a T-Type in high school. Bought it at a repo auction but being a repo it was beat. And 2 years ago he had an 87 National but traded it for a a 70 GTO.

Awesome dad. Must of been hard giving up that baby even keeping it in the family. Hope he's taking care of it? Does he use it as a daily driver?
No he drives it a couple times a month. He e would drive it more, but my uncle installed a spool for a cheap posi and it is a pain to drive around town. And the 3.73 without overdrive is like 3000 roms at 60.
