MSD distributors are pretty crappy. The internals of them (inside the cap) rust to hell throwing off a lot of stuff. Pull off your cap and check it out. The magnetic pickup is usually the worst.

Plugs gapped at that shouldn't do anything to make it rough..

The stock gap for a '96 vehicle in U.S. is 0.060 so if anything your gap is not big enough. Even if you added the ignition box the gap is still to small.

The '95's are .035 so if you add the ignition box then .050 is good.

True... so before you go change your plugs and waste money on the E3s. try gapping them first. Never know what will happen.

I personally would not try gapping "pre-gapped don't not alter" platinum's unless recommended by plug maker. If you use devices such as an ignition box on such an engine contact the maker and ask them for the opinion on using there ignition box on your type of engine and what type of plugs to use as well. They are the best source for it.

Ray, since it appears you do not have the proper gap on your plugs I would fix that problem before looking at other issues or mods right now. Incomplete combustion can occurs and fouling can occur if it has not already. and if left alone gap bridging will be next which will stop firing all together.

Hey, I am in aviation, if you think you made a mistake you go over everything again. No matter how crazy it sounds. It can be stressful.

Nice setup!

Mine is still sitting in a box. (Thanks Atomic!)
I havn't had time to install it yet. I'm on holidays this week, maybe...I can find time???

What is the part number of that coil? I bought the ss blaster and it looks like it doesn't fit and I'm gonna have to McGyver it in. Yours looks like it fits right in.

Mine (not installed yet...)

So I finally got motivated to install this stuff. I'm on holidays so I can take my time and make sure I do it right.

I hooked it up and...nothing... :(
No spark.

Wiring Diagram of 6A box.

Didn't make any permanent changes.

No spark from coil.

I figure;
a) I have spliced into the wrong wires.
b) The 6a box doesn't work.
c) The coil doesn't work.

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: If I had to guess, I should remove the C black ground splice from the IGN Driver Harness going to the 6A.

The drop in bolt ons are 8231. Direct 50-sate replacement for $50.

Thanks! If this coil is defective, I've been sitting on it for so long that it's warranty may be up! I may have to buy that one!

did you actually crank the engine for the box to pick up on the spark trigger from the coil harness and fire the new coil of which it does not look like the ground of the tester is on the battery?
