Morimoto xb led fogs chromed

So I got a set of the black xb led fogs and hated the black color on my chrome front end Denali. So I found fast headlights that sold some chrome versions. I worked a deal to separate my fogs and send them the black inserts to be chromed. Took a few weeks to get the turn around due to batch shipments of chrome process. It was a pain to separate but managed it and resealed with butyl. Then clear coated the lenses and installed. The output is significantly better over and drop in led or hid bulb setup! Well worth the money if your serious about light output. Here are some pics of the process.

Very nice as always. I wasn't sure the black were gonna look that bad on your front end, but after seeing the finished pics it wouldn't have looked right.

I use my fogs daily, and I can only imagine the improvement these are. They should look nice with my clear retro and black bumper.

Do you have a link in case others are interested in a direct replacement? Mounting straight forward? What temp are they?

Yup the black wouldn't flow on my front end. Did the chrome and love it! Perfect output now and the way it should have been built from factory. Mounts in same location as factory fogs. Need to remove plastic ball caps from stock fogs and transfer to ball caps on new fogs then drop in bumper. The wire plug is tough to get fully seated. I had to tighten up the female plugs inside the led wiring to keep good connection on male plug from harness. Temperature is true 5k and matches my 50 watt 6500k bulbs (output is 5k when over powered to 50w from 35w).

Thank you sir. Definitely looks nice and factory.

It still boggles my mind that these trucks were $50k new and they had worse headlights than the gmt800, which as you low had factory projectors. For $200 the output of these is great considering an hid kit will set you back almost half that for a reputable kit.

Yeah the output is truly amazing for fogs! The stock bowls were terrible for anything other than looks. These go together with my retro headlights so much better!

The vertical adjustment is easy with a Phillips head screw just like stock but have to pull back fender liner to get to it. There is no horizontal adjustment but that isn't required since there is no step in the beam pattern. I will get a far distance shot of a couple hundred feet. The picture I posted is about 50' for reference.

I got a set of these for my '06. I am in the process of fabbing brackets as they are not bolt-in for my year model. I'm working it out so that I can use the factory adjuster. I like the black on my truck.

I considered a full HID retrofit and may do that if the XB fogs don't cut it, but because my truck is lifted I'm a bit concerned about other motorists with bright lights up that high. Hopefully these fogs, along with some good bulbs for the stock headlights, will do the trick.

I was driving to my in-laws last night. They live in a mostly rural area with no street lights on main roads so I could swe how these factory headlights SUCK.
Gotta make a move to increase my lighting output and these fogs should help a lot.

I went ahead and ordered a pair of these.

The standard black should look/work just fine against the color of my Gold Mist rig. Will chime-in again once I have them installed, properly aimed and road-tested.

The fogs def help the output but a retrofit is the key to good lighting. Mine is superb for output!

I compared these fogs to the OEM HID headlights on my wifes 08 MDX. They are not quite as bright as OEM HIDs, but in the ballpark. Not bad for an easy $200 add-on, especially for those that can just bolt them in. It's really nice that they have near HID brightness, but are plug and play with no separate ballast.

Just to clarify my earlier comments - after installing these and using them on the road, I need to add that while they are great as fogs, they are NOT in the ballpark as a replacement for HID headlights. It appeared that way when I pointed them on the garage door next to my wife's car, but on the road I can see that a headlight upgrade is still needed.

I'm not one to separate the headlight assemblies to do a retrofit, and it seems you can't buy good-quality plug & play headlights for under $800, so these seemed like an affordable way to get a little better lighting. I am not expecting these fogs to serve as headlight replacements, but hopeful that they could be aimed in such a way that they can offer a supporting level of beam brightness & throw. Am I expecting too much from them?

Agreed they don't serve to replace a headlight but do offer some great low level output below normal low beam pattern. Remember these are just 3 leds inside of a housing with output through a curved clear plastic. I can notice a difference with them on even using my FXR 50 watt 6k bulbs. I really think anyone can do a retrofit after I've completed mine. It's not that hard and most people are more nervous of messing something up.

And now after a few days of using these, one of them died. Ugh. Hopefully getting a replacement will be hassle-free.

You sure it's dead? I had to remove the female plugs from connector and squeeze the housing so they made good contact with fog wiring. Neither of mine worked on first plug in
