I've always been a Glossy Paint Chrome wheel Kind of Guy...

But I'm really liking these matte paint jobs. The problem is IMO it only looks good on certain body styles of vehicles. On the 07 or newer Tahoe's I think it looks Pretty Damn Nice, but I have a 2002 GMC Denali and aint real sure it would look right.

If I get a 2007 Tahoe or Avalanche I'm definately going Matte...just not sure Matte Black or Matte White!

Any Opinions

I think it looks awesome. Although, it does work better on the Escalade body lines.

In my opinion, matte white looks like crap.

I would wrap it in matte vinyl for about 800-1000 bucks.

Then if you get tired of it you can just peel it off and go back to your old color.

Have you gotten a quote for that? I've had several quotes to get my work truck wrapped and they were all over 2k.

Yea wrapping these beasts for a grand is cchhheeeaaaapppp .. $2000 is a more realistic number but i have heard worse than that.. like $700 for just the hood.

Matte paint isnt any more expensive than regular paint.. you might pay a couple extra dollars for the clear but there is no more work involved.. all it is is a process clear that mattes it out.

I like matte white.. on the right car.. a mini cooper or a bentley gt in eggshell white would look sexy to me.

I've been doing vinyl graphics for motorsports applications for the past few years so I would be doing it myself.

It would be 800-1000 in materials. Wrap shops tend to rip people off. If you understand the concept of applying vinyl, you could probably pull it off on your own.

You were probably quoted 2 grand for a PRINTED wrap. This would just be a basic vinyl wrap material.

my problem with mattes is upkeep. you can't really polish them or wax them from what I understand.

matte black is rather played out IMO after 7 years+ of matte black paint on trucks and spo-coms, euros, etc and 60+ years of sueded Kustoms.
I do still think matte COLOR has some potential, but it is very easy for it to look like the pastel mid 90s.

The way I remember the trends:
early 90s
fluorescents, bright primarys and splash/bubble graphics
mid 90s
pastels and monochromes, over simplified flames, scallops.
late 90s
tribals and speed stripes, intense 30 color+ graphics make a return on show trucks.
early 00s
bold monochromes make a return, but in non primary colors
mid 00
mattes, painted/colored wheels make a return.

Eh..........For a show vehicle that has everything else completely modded fine, but for a basicly stock or slightly modded vehicle like mine not so much :imo:

Im debating in the matte green. Seen a avalanche in a magizine with it and it looked sick! But I am a chrome and shiny finish kinda guy too, but i think matte and chrome would look nice if done right. Tired of seeing everyone get this matte black finish like they batman or something! To each his own.......

I'm not sure how a Matte paint job would look on our style/body of Denali/Tahoe....I can look at it on a 2007 or greater in the pics above, and know that it looks good, just aint sure how it would look on ours????

I'd also like to see Matte and Chrome if done right that sounds like it would look pretty good. I'd like to see it first before trying to attempt anything like that though
