I just replaced it(MAF sensor) and understand you have to drive it "X" amount of miles before it "regulates" it's self and the check engine light goes out. Has anyone done this before I'd really just like to hear you're story. Thanks in advance

What led you to think your MAF was causing the CEL? Did you use a code reader? If so, clear the code and see if it comes back. If not, why did you replace the MAF?

I had 3 diagnostic done on it... The last I paid 65 dollars for to confirm the first 2 ... I know ... Not very smart. Along with everything else on the truck it seems no maintenance had been done in air filter etc. Clearing the code is in the To do ASAP.... Thanks for the reply

For $65 you can buy a diagnostic tool to read and clear codes yourself. Your MAF probably just needed to be cleaned; I hope you bought a can of MAF cleaner and tried that first.

I got a diag at auto zone and the printout suggested a MAF change

I don't believe it can tell if it needs to be replaced or cleaned, only that there's a problem with it. What exactly did the printout say? Low voltage or voltage out of range or something along those lines? And did you clean it first since that solves most MAF problems. And after cleaning or replacing you need to clear the codes.

Hey guys, I have a quick question. My 2006 Denali has thrown a code three times now for a MAF sensor. I have a spectre intake I bought from @Rocket Man , that’s been great. It only started throwing the code after the first time I took the filter off the intake to clean it. It’s sporadic. About a month apart each time, and each time while at some point, climbing or descending grades. I’ve used my code reader to clear and it hasn’t presented issues that I can tell. Is this an indication that I need to clean my MAF or do I need to replace it?!

Yep clean it. Sometimes the oil from the filter gets on the MAF. Be sure to apply the oil like the directions show, no more oil than called for.

And be careful cleaning the MAF. Don't be manhandling that thing. Try not to touch the wires. Just hold it out and spray it and let it evaporate a couple times.

^^^ONLY USE THE MAF SENSOR CLEANER IN A CAN THAT SAYS MAF SENSOR CLEANER ON IT!

Seriously, though, unlike a lot of chemicals we use like carb cleaner (methanol and acetone) or brake cleaner (perc) that are just labeled for marketing, if you look at the SDS for the MAF cleaner, it is a very specific cocktail of solvents. Accept no substitutes.
