Frame rails are all done in the engine bay at least, thankfully there was little to no real rust in there

Clutch install went smoothly as expected, since all the parts were designed for a 6.0 there was no issues at all with slapping it together
All arp fasteners, 85ft lbs at the crank, 74 on the pressure plate (don't waste extra on those damn 12 point unless you have the sockets.

You wouldn't believe the grime on this bell housing looking at now

It was a bit harder to reinstall the transmission by myself than I was expecting but I got it done with a bit of help from my trusty $60 engine hoist

Tomorrow I'll be pulling the core support and sliding her home

quick update and some info, pics to come soon

Engine and transmisison are mounted, transfer case is installed. The transmission cross member is in as well as the new poly mount from energy suspension. The mount is the same as the 4l60e and the transmission cross member should sit in the same place as well, but since i don't have the driveshafts in yet i can't be 100% sure on that.

Just a few goodies, she's mostly back together, just plumbing lines and working on fitment...

the engine is all in and wired, computer arrived today, after the battery tray is in place I'll be ready to turn the key.

installed a power antenna

On the mechanical side, I've set the transmission exactly where the cross member bolted up for the 4l60e, and I've yet to reinstall the drive shafts (probably doing that tomorrow) and bleed the clutch.
Once the battery is in I can test my starter relay circuit and nss, and maybe turn the key :3

This is a great thread. Thanks for all your picture work alone...much less the actual swap. I'm trying to pull the trigger on an NV4500 at the moment. Swap seems overwhelming at times (especially since I'm no wrench master) but these threads make it seem attainable to us mere mortals. Thanks again

Ended up finding out that i had a misfire on cylinder 6. No compresssion... So i got to tear the engine down, hone, ring and rebearing the engine. got it back together and STILL had a misfire on #6... and now #3. Glad a tore it down like I did those pistons were nasty, hell the whole engine was nasty...20160129_134447.jpg 20160222_112336.jpg 20160208_191742.jpg 20160220_212928.jpg

A small piece of advice, when you build your own harness, double check your coil wiring, that little white line is damn dear invisible. So after swapping the coil wires she's purring like a kitten. She was a bit boggy at first but running much better now. Clutch engagement is smooth and easy the 5.3 has more than enough power for a second gear start (comparable to a 4l60e 1st gear) but i haven't had her out on the street yet.

Next on the docket was another steering gear, not much tighter but i think i can fix that, it was mostly due to the cavitation of the ps fluid. Now that it's swapped, and i've got a new problem as i've got no power assist on my brakes.

Going to wrap up this thread except any additional questions as my manual and LS swaps are complete and about as well documented as I can pull off lol
