Has anyone installed this system for their 5.3?
MagnaFlow P/N 15355: http://www.magnaflow.com/products?partnumber=15355

I've already read about Tony's (NORCAL) muffler-only installs while leaving the flapper intact. But I'm considering the full exhaust options; and based on what I've read, it sounds like the piping is too small on the Borla and it drones. Corsa seems like the favorite, but it's more expensive. So that leaves the Magnaflow, which also claims no drone like Corsa and comes with 3" tubing like the Corsa. Haven't been able to find any stories, videos, photos of their exhaust system installed. Only the muffler with flapper option. Thanks.

ive installed them on the 5.3s and sold many. heres what I do for my customers. Install the full kit and see how you like the sound but wait about a week for everything to break in. if you want it louder you can remove the flapper. DO NOT take rear resonator out. Truck will be very drony

With this full setup, it looks like you have to remove the rear resonator. MagnaFlow appears to have its own. So I assume you're talking about theirs?

Borla has a pretty good drone, it annoys me, but i dont notice it much anymore. I had a magnaflow before this, dont remember the number (14389 i think) and liked it. A little drone, but wasnt bad with the resonator at all. Barely noticeable imo.

Hope that helps...

My dad has the GM Borla on his 2016 6.2 and there is absolutely zero drone. The GM Borla has the flapper which helps with drone and the noise in 4 cylinder mode.

I've got corsa in my 2012 6.2 and it also has zero drone. I could hear it switch between v4/v8 before I had it tuned. The sound in 4 cylinder mode drove me crazy - it wasn't loud but it was just distracting/annoying to me. I was impressed I couldn't hear this v4 switch with the GM Borla on my fathers SUV.

The regular Borla system doesn't have the flapper so I cannot comment on how that sounds in the 2015+ SUVs.

I'm not knocking magnaflow. If you like that then go with it.

That's the thing. I don't know if I like it. I've read all the reviews on the Borla, GM Borla, Corsa, and MF muffler only setups, just haven't run across the full MF setup in someone's ride. Thanks for all the replies. I may have to be the guinea pig on this one.

Thanks to Eric (Agent WD-40), I confirmed the GM Borla has the flapper installed. Zero drone. Anything under about 1900RPM (which is about 82mph with 3.08s), it sounds very close to stock. At around 2K, there is definitely 'rumble,' but it's not a drone and at all intrusive to my ears. And sounds *very* nice; much deeper than Corsa, IMHO. See my recent thread about fan temp adjustment for performance increase with Borla, AFE Momentum intake, and 87/89 octane tune. Also, if you disable the AFM, I don't think the 'regular' Borla exhaust would drone, but that is pure conjecture. Regarding the exhaust diameter being too small, I'm certainly no exhaust expert, but have been around performance cars a long time. A bigger exhaust doesn't always equate to more power and torque. And given the power increase that I personally experienced with very minor changes, I'm very pleased with the Borla

Just ordered Magnaflow 15356 for my 16 Yukon XL, should be here in a couple of days. I'll try to post video of before and after, still don't know if I'm installing the flapper when I install exhaust. Anyone here install the flapper, then have to remove it for a better exhaust tone?

where did you buy from and price. Just curious since ive sold a lot of these any try to offer the cheapest price shipped.

the flapper comes with the exhaust you will have to weld in 3 inch pipe to by pass it.

Awesome. Look forward to seeing and hearing the exhaust installed. Doubt anyone has input regarding the flapper. Not many people (if any) have this exhaust apparently, but Norcal says he's sold several. It looks like Magnaflow has its own version of a flapper or resonator on this particular exhaust. Keep us posted!

I ordered from Lethal Performance, I get emails from them about what Sales are going on. I made the mistake of seeing your Magnaflow prices after I had already placed my order, they had 20% off Magnaflow Sale going on. I think it was like $40 more with them, I'll keep you in mind for anything else I purchase Tony.

I ordered a Magnaflow 12259 muffler off Amazon yesterday for $90 delivered. Should be here tomorrow and will try to find a muffler shop to weld it in. Plan on removing the flapper but leaving resonator. 15 Tahoe Z71...5.3
