Firestone Destination LE2 or AT. Depending on what you need them for.

LT has nothing to do with size. they make a P265 70 17 and an LT265 70 17. the LT will usually be a heavy duty tire for 2500's but can be run on 1500's. generally they will have a rougher ride on 1/2 tons but a harder tread compound that lasts longer.

i HIGHLY recommend against firestone as their tires suck. michelins will be the best tire but come at a price. many other options out there as well. living in texas i don't have much experience with snow but get yourself some good all season tires and your set.

I always thought lt stood for light truck when you see it on tires. I believe the tires in my Tahoe are labeled at, which is all terrain.

It does mean light truck... as opposed to a semi or other truly heavy duty truck. These are 10 ply tires, which carry a greater load rating than your standard p-metric tires. Along with that increased load rating comes a rougher ride in most situations. Longevity vs comfort, I suppose... for a vehicle that doesn't require a tire that can handle the load that the LT tire can.

Why exactly do you say that they suck? I've had the Destination AT's on 3 different Tahoe's and have loved them.

I think it all goes back to the ford explorer debacle. It takes a lot to live that down and regain the public confidence.

I think that was 10+ years ago. Also I owned a ford explorer when that was going on.

Yes it was. I think second generation explorers? We had a 92 and iirc it came with firestones. That was before all the incidents.
