Hey guys, wonder if you all would be able to help a guy out?
I have a loud screech/squeel when the A/C is on and im on the gas. I'm really hoping it's the belt tensioner. It dosent make the noise when the A/C is off, only when it is on and under throttle load.

So do you think it would be the tensoiner? ~hopes~

I just went for a drive and it seemed to cahhet and chirp more than yesterday. A/C blows COLD! I've read about the possibility of the compresser being on its way out. Would rather not throw money at parts not needed.

Im pretty new here but started that a month after I got it. Ac worked fine but it would chirp and chatter for a minute the be quiet after turning ac on. Two weeks later I turned the ac on and it squealed like a banshee. Going down the road it sounded like a fire siren n no cold air. Needless to say got to a lookin at it and there is metal shavings from the clutch area. Now it chirps every time the system is cycled and if the defrosters are on. Im into it for atleast a clutch but im assuming the pump is siezed? What are anyones elses thoughts?

probably just the a/c clutch. it can be replaced separately from the compressor, but most people just replace the entire thing.

check rock auto. i picked up the OE denso unit for mine for 200. drier + orings + orifice tube + freon i was about 300$ into my entire a/c rebuild. i also have manifold gauges and a vacuum pump though.

I would say, replace the belt and the tensioner. If that doesn't do it then it's definately an ac clutch or compressor.. Mine started squealing but after I replaced the belt and tensioner the compressor started making a whirling sound and went out!

I just replaced my water pump AC belt and drive belt yesterday because of the squealing noise.
