I removed my striker plates (catch for door to latch) so I could prep to paint door jams. Little did I know the nut is a separate part, not welded to body. It fell off and down into the panel above the rear tire. I tried a magnet tool but it cannot make the radius above the tire. Anybody had this happen before or have any ideas on how to get it out?

I would just reach in from the side where you removed that insulation and thru the holes with another nut. You can use a magnetic socket on the end of a long 3/8" flex head breaker bar and hold while you thread the attaching hardware in to the nut. Or am I missing something obvious? Whether it fell in there or not, you were going to have to reinstall somehow as you put back together.

You could spray some expanding foam in there and when it drys it will hold it in place.

So these backing plates aren't secured in a pocket or anything? I was wanting to loosen one of mine to make an adjustment but wasn't sure if I loosened it too much it would fall out of place.
