Lost All Power

Last night went to a friends house. Came out and tried to start the truck and everything was completely dead. No power to anything. I opened the door after I cracked the hood and everything came back on. Started up like nothing happened. I checked the battery connections and everything was nice and tight. Anyone have any ideas what I should look for?

I had a similar experience with my 1997 Yukon (RIP), and it occurred that same way a number of times, until it did not work at all. It turned out to be that my ignition switch failed.
