Greetings!

2013 k2500 burb 6 speed automatic 6.0 106000 miles

Lost 5/6 today, nothing unusual happened beforehand just normal driving. I dont tow, hit every maintenance interval religiously. Just started driving today and it wont shift out of 4th. Tried manual mode and the same.

So far I have checked:

No dtc codes
Transmission fluid full, clear and bright
Disconnected battery
Reset transmission adapts

No joy. What do you think I should do next?

Thanks

Sounds like the 456 clutch pack is burnt. Drop the pan, if you haven’t already done so. If there’s a bunch of burnt clutch material at the bottom, pull it for overhaul.

Thank you for getting back Nick, I was hoping I didn’t need the big guns!

I did a rinse and repeat of the reset transmission adapts with my Tech 2 (first time was with a different scanner, a launch, and I may not have committed the reset properly) And now it hits all 6 just fine.

Of course resetting the adapts was inappropriate since I hadn’t installed a new trans but a couple friends encouraged me to try it. I’ll be watching it more closely now and have a scheduled service coming up in a few months so will be dropping the pan then.

Leaning forward, would you recommend any preventative maintenance in addition to the fluid/filter?

Grateful for the assistance as always!

You're welcome.

Nothing special insofar as preventative maintenance beyond what you already have scheduled, unless you want to get into the valve body, vacuum test it and install a Sonnax or Transgo VB kit and new spacer plate. You can also bench test the TEHCM at that time. Sometimes resetting the adapts clears out 'corrupted logic' (my term for it) so it may have solved your problem but only time / more drive cycles will tell.

Sorry for adding to this forum couldnt find out hot to message you!

I have a 2007 cadillac escalade with the 6l80. I bought a 2011 chevy tahoe 6l80 both transmissions are 4x4 tail housing. What im wanting to do is put the 2011 transmission into my 2007. I have read its the same transmission, and I should just have to put the tcm and valve body out of the 2007 into the 2011? Or can I just put the 2011 transmission into my 2007 with no parts swap and just bring it to my tuner and have him flash the tcm?

Please Let me know

This escalade has been swapped with a Corvette LS3 on stage 3 came and ton of engine work and we roasted the 2007 transmission being awd. Now we are doing new trans and gonna do a 4x4 transfer case to get 2wd and only 4x4 when we want it

Can somebody tag @NickTransmissions for some reason it wont let me

I turned off my PMs as too many people were sending me messages w/questions that should be asked on the forums. Doing support via PM defeats the purpose of having such a forum in the first place.

Can you start a new thread and tag me there or post the above questions in my 6L80 Information Thread (link is in my sig line below)?

Thanks in advance!
