Looking to buy an 07

I have the opportunity to buy, what appears to be, a very clean 07 LTZ. My only hesitation is that it has 89k miles. I've bought and owned preveious GMs but never with such high miles. I know that a Tahoe with miles like that is eventually looking at a future fuel pump and/or tranny problem. Anyone have any insight?

i bought my yukon used with 56xxx miles and before i wrecked it i put on 93 *** and didt have a single problem with. kept up with the maintenance

you best bet is to take it to the gm dealership and have everything diagnose. get ready to spend a arm and a leg but itll be worth it. or if u know a really trustworthy mechanic.

overall they are good vehicles. i just bought my 07 and will do the same thing.

We also just bought a used 2007 Yukon Denali with 97000 miles and had no reservations. A vehicals condition (physical and driveability) should speak for itself!!! We also have a 2000 with 168500 miles and would take it anywhere. Both were salesmans vehicles..... mostly hwy miles. And at 89000 I'd guess the same for yours.... lots of hwy miles. Unless it's towed alot the tranny should not be an issue.

For us we test drove the one we bought thinking we were only looking at it for the options and to see if it is what we liked..... same day we also test drove one with same options miles and year. Didn't take us long to figure out the one we bought was a deal by condition alone. I also called last owner.... they are a wealth of information!!!! Doesn't hurt to ask for there contact, as it's public information!

As for the fuel pump...... keep it above a 1/4 tank consistantly and there should be no worries (so I've found). The gas in the tank helps keep the pump from overheating and failing.... no fuel no cool??!!

In the end they are all machines and even new/newer ar subjest to failure!!!!!

I got an extended bumper to bumper warranty for my escalade with 45k miles. It was well worth it as my AC compressor went out and needed to be replaced recently. Get the warranty... It definitely won't be a waste of money.

We to purchased an extended warranty.... I've never not had one pay for itself!!! Doesn't take long to rack up shop charges of $1000-1700 on repairs, which is the same as an extended warranty cost!!!

They are reliable. There is a reason they increased the factory warranty to 100k miles for 07 (and that's even factoring in the yahoos who treat their vehicles like garbage, let alone those who take care of them like the members of this forum).
I bought my 2007 Yukon Denali with 67k on it (was scary trading in my 07 2500HD with 45k miles I bought new and going to a higher mileage used rig) and drove it until 100k when I got my current one. All I had to replace was brakes and tires which are normal wear items.

Tacboy61, are you going through a dealership to purchase this vehicle? If do, who? If you can take it to a dealer to have them inspect it, I recommend going to Gus Paulos in West Valley. Before going into the service drive stop by parts and say hi to Todd. Tell him Connor sent you by. That should help you or in getting a tech that is worth his weight. I seriously recommend avoiding Larry H. Miller and Jerry Seiner. I've never had a good experience with them. Murdock in Bountiful is decent to deal with too, but only their service department. Sales department sucks. If you need body work, do avoid Gus Paulos. Their body shop manager does everything to avoid warranty work on stuff they've done. I have an album on photobucket to show it too.

As for your location, Utah loves to pour the salty on the road during the winter, so I'd definitely check the under carriage for rust, rot, and west that could be getting ready to leak. Inspect the body thoroughly, especially the wheel wells, bottom of doors (specifically the inside of the rear doors), etc. Also take the VIN to a Chevy dealer and have the service department can pull up its service history. Find out if all the recalls have been addressed, ie heated windshield wipers, interior chrome door handles, ecm/trans/bcm have the updated programming. Does the service history reflect TSBs being addressed, ie, oil consumption, evap cvs, etc? If appearance is an issue, is the dash cracked (left side of drivers info hump and/or near passenger airbag)? If not, had it been replaced? If it hasn't it might crack soon.

I did buy from Larry H but have had good deals from them in the past. I was able to get the maintenance records from the dealership in Logan, where it was primarily serviced. I was able to work an extended warranty into the deal, so feel pretty good about it.

And very happy to have a hoe in my garage again!!

The only concern I have about buying a vehicle that was in Logan is the weather. Iirc, the coldest on record up there is -69°F. Negative temps are not uncommon up there. I've been up there during the winter. The roads ice up so much up there and the plows can't get it picked up and it becomes very rough and chunky. I'd worry about the suspension. How are the ball joints, tie rod ends, and shocks & struts? I'd think about getting those shocks and struts replaced of they have over 50k miles on them.

2mths ago bought my wife a 07 Denali with 84K on the clock. Since then, done 2k. I'm not a mechanic, but common sense I do have. Ours was spotless, outside and in. Everyting inside worked, engine sounded smooth and flawless. Since purchase, i've noticed a knocking sound, goes away once warmed up, but you know what, don't care, its a great SUV, and traded a 02 Tahoe in for it.

Brought from a Hyundi dealership who has a good rep here in North Carolina, the vehicle has never left North Carolina, so rust isn't a major issue.

As the guys have said, do your home work, If know you have a clean vechicle inside and out,and if it drives well from cold, chance are you got yourself the start of a good deal. For us, we got a good deal, so were happy.

Bottom line, love this SUV, if you google any car, your gonna find issues, do you home work.

This is a great forum and some of these guys really know there stuff and are very will to help.
