ok nothing special, but went by a local vanwrap place and asked how much for some spare black 3M to cover my chevy emblems (dont feel like painting them).

He said "here, no charge"

Now, anyone have any comments on how to apply it? He briefly showed me, as he was in a hurry, but anymore pointers would be great!

I did my GMC emblem on the front grille until i went with the billet.

I think the chevy logo will be easier than the GMC letters...

Just cut a peice that will fit over all edges. Make sure the emblem is clean and free from any solvents or soap that would prevent the vinyl from sticking.

Remove the backing and start in the center of the logo. Push up, down, left and right, and make sure all air bubbles are "worked out" of the logo. Do not push it down into the groove between the chrome edge and red logo part yet, but do wrap it around the edge of the chrome trim...

At this point, get a NEW or VERY Sharp x acto knife, and find the center of the chrome/red gap that you are covering up. Be sure to slice and not pull on the vinyl with the knife, as you move the knife. Do not try to make turns with the knife. Just cut straight lines at this point. Once all sides are cut, remove the wasted vinyl around the edges. Now take a credit card or something similar and push the edges of the vinyl down into the chrome/red gap area. Just keep working the corner areas until it sits correctly. Take your time with it. It will turn out well.

thanks dan, sounds easy enough! haha... did you leave it on the truck as you did it or take it off and try?

guy said it would be easier to leave it on the truck since its already held onto something, so i might just get a chair and take my time like you said...

exactly what I did. put a chair there and took my time. the most important thing is a new or like new xacto knife though. If you start pulling on the vinyl at all as your trying to move the knife, stop and backup, or try to come from the other way. Crisp clean edges is the key! lol

Hm that's a good idea. Maybe I'll do a matte black logo to create some contrast with the body paint

Red doesn't go well with a black and chrome Denali...

yeah i thought about doing a red (since the Z71 is red) but went with black for now. The good part is i can just peel it right off and change colors whenever i get bored with it!
