I am helping a guy build a parts list for a 2007 LC9 AFM delete. I understand that he has an all aluminum 5.3 with AFM and no VVT.

I am looking for a cam for him and Texas Speed Performance has LM7 cams and they claim to work without VVT.

I am wondering how a LM7 cam compares to a L33 cam?

Would a LM7 cam be the best factory non AFM cam to put in his 2007 LC9?

I know that I put a L33 cam in my 08 LMG.

Thanks guys

@Trey Hardy The L33 cam is harder to get, I want to see if the LM7 cam would work that would be easiest for him because he can order it with the rest of the kit on 1 order. Also the L33 cam is like $250 these days

Look up some of the new summit racing cans they got some nice sounding ones for a decent price if he’s on a budget.

I got the stage 4 cam motion and it chops hard shakes the whole truck and makes driving a biotch until I get a converter in her to match the cam

You gotta consider the fact that the L33 is identical to the stock cam, just without the AFM lobes. So, it'd run 100% like stock minus the AFM on the stock tune. An aftermarket cam would be optimized on a custom tune and might be best with fresh OE parts or even upgraded parts elsewhere. Even with the L33 cam being expensive, it's still cheaper with not requiring special tuning or parts. You can get the AFM tuned out for $60. If he's not looking for more power, the L33 is still the way to go.

LM7 camshaft is 10-15 horsepower and torque LESS than the L33. The L33 is a single pattern camshaft, just like our 2007-2009 5.3 grind.
