Let the De-Blinging begin....painted my grille and rear emblem

I've wanted to get all my chrome powder coated for a while but $$ is running short round here so I thought I'd have some fun with the spray I had in the shed.....I did my grille and rear emblem.

The grille is flat black with a metallic(close to my body color) bowtie embedded that you can only see when the sun hits it right.. Here are some pics, I'll post more when I get it back on the truck:

Here this will clear it up: You can only see the bowtie as shown below when the sun hit's it right, the rest of the time it's just flat black. It won't hold up too long since I am a ****** painter but when i get the scrilla' I'll have it done the right way:

Here is a pic where you can see the bowtie, my truck is not facing the sun so I can't get a good pic of it on and it's like a phantom image anyway and hard to get a good flick.....

When you eventually get it painted, what color are you going with? I think if you matched it to the rest of the truck it would look tight.

All the chrome will eventually be powder coated with a flat black slightly textured powder coat. I'm going for low-lights( as opposed to chrome highlights) and since my truck is a metal flake charcoal the flat black will contrast nicely. I'll eventually get the grille powder coated proper instead of spray canned but will keep the phantom emblem idea, just with better paint.

i like it verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry much. have a 05 suburban that i dont use that much adn i was just thinkinh the same to tyhe front end full grill wityh hd hood. you just made it esier for me.thanks. looking very nice there.

I like it man....wished I would have done an HD hood, but don't want to pay to have it airbrushed again, much less try to match now...yours looks good man!

A lot better than the chrome, but i honetly just don't like that grill or the big ass rear bowtie you have. I think if you removed that rear bowtie it'd really clean up the rear.

I'm not a fan of the grill it's kinda ugly Sorry. Maybe if the lights were darker too it wouldn't stick out so bad.

Word up..... thnx for the feedback. I know not too many folks are a fan of the full face grille but I dig it. I don't know what it is but the cross bar makes it look like the front end is squished to me, like someone is pinching it between their fingers....I know, I'm a weirdo. I must have looked at grilles and pics of grilles for two weeks before I made a decision. I LOVE the full phantom grilles on the OBS where everything is behind the grille. For me, especially with the HD hood, these trucks have a big nose and the cross bar cuts it in half and makes it look smaller and it look odd to me.....

I have always liked the GMC front ends better and they have the grille(for chevys) that has the open center but it has a frame around it that looks odd to me, the open part is too small. What makes the GM look good is they don't just have the crossbar, they have the lights encased too so it's not just a straight line extending from the grille... everyone sees things from a different perspective I reckon'

as for the bowtie on the rear...I love it, wanted a bigger one but couldn't find one. I'm not a huge fan of having the rear gate clean, for me it's a lot of space and I like to have something to break it up but clean looks 1000x better than the stock badges for sure.
