My drivers side mirror stopped power folding a while back and I have been debating on swapping to Esky mirrors but decided to just fix mine.

I ordered the HD motors and brass gears from Gruven. I ordered the gears that were already attached to the shafts so I wouldn't have to wait for epoxy to cure for 24 hours.

$107.xx for 2 HD motors and 2 brass gears and shafts... shipped.

Here is a comparison pic of the old motor and plastic gear on the left and new stuff on the right.

Mirrors work great now. $107 and a couple hours of work... still cheaper than new mirrors with all the bells and whistles.

Also "dynamatted" the front doors.

Way better than new mirrors, plus then they'd just break anyway because of the plastic gears. How much did the Dynamat cost you and did it make a difference? I'm trying to get better sound in my CC and I already replaced the speakers.

I actually got the "dynamat" from my brother. He ordered a boat load of it for a project and ended up not using it. I am not certain what brand it is or what he paid for it but I know he got a good deal on it.

Honestly... I left my brothers house and drove back the 75 miles home and my wife kept me on the phone the whole way... lol

She did say the Bluetooth in the truck sounded good though... she didn't even know I was on it.

The doors feel more solid now. I was going to put a piece on the inside of the outer door skin but forgot until I had already covered the big hole in the door.

I got it all put back together and my drivers side window wouldn't work. I thought I knocked something loose but it ended up being a bad connection where the door harness plugs into the fuse panel on the end of the dash. Really weird... all the other windows worked and so did all the other buttons on the driver's switch panel... except the driver's window.

I will have to update on the sound quality/improvement after I get the rear doors done.

I was thinking about upgrading the speakers but wanted to try this first.

Just curious, how'd you get the mirrors apart/seperated to get to the motors?

I used to take my nbs apart all the time...

Push glass all the way to one side, youll see the ring that holds glass into mirror housing and with a long small flathead you’ll be able to release the little clips that hold glass to ring then the two wires fir the heat and autodim and then from there it pops all apart....i used to fix the floppy mirror syndrome all the time... nnbs gotta be same....

Fold them in.
Use a plastic interior panel pry tool and separate the back cover.
Unplug 2 wires for heat and another plug for auto dim.
Tilt mirror glass down all the way and lift/slide the glass up. There are little tabs that you can pry with a screwdriver.
Remove 4 T10 torx screws from power adjust motor and unplug and remove it.
Pop the front of the housing/surround loose and remove.
Knock out 3 push pins and remove plastic base housing.
Now you have access to the motor housing and it is held on by 4 T20 torx screws.
Open motor housing by prying the metal tabs.
Remove upper housing to expose the motor and gears.

There are a few more steps involved with finishing it up but you get the idea and I am tired of typing... lol

My passenger side is getting wonky.... wife likes to back out of garage and slide the mirror along the white aluminum wrapped 2x10 door frame.....i still love her tho.... she says i make her nervous when i watch her back up..cute lil thang...

It's really not that bad if you are mechanically inclined. The instructions they provide, as a download, on their site are pretty good. Just remember to get the gears and stops inside the motor lined back up in the correct orientation or your mirror might fold the wrong way... lol

Got the rear doors done today.

So for anyone curious...

1.9 ohm for Bose front door speakers

And

3.6 ohm for Bose rear door speakers.

So if I do decide to upgrade speakers in the future I will probably get 2 ohm for front and 3 ohm for rear.

Went ahead and ordered some speakers and such from Crutchfield. They have a sale going on Infinity speakers right now and I found a $15 off coupon so I feel like I did pretty good as far as price goes for what I got.

I got these for the front doors.

I chose these because they are 2 ohm which is basically identical to the 1.9 ohm Bose speakers found in the front doors.

I got these components for the rear doors.

My plan is to install the mid bass driver in the rear door and possibly install the tweeter in the A-pillar location... Not 100% sure just yet.
I chose these because they are 3 ohm which is close to the 3.6 ohm Bose speakers in the rear doors. I could have went 4 ohm and probably been ok but figured I would get a little more volume from the 3 ohm.

I also ordered these baffles.

I got these because of the 4 1/4" depth. I didn't need them to be that deep to clear the speakers but thought that perhaps a little more "air space" might make the speakers sound a little better. I know these are for 6 3/4" speakers and I ordered 6 1/2" speakers but I believe they will work since the speaker adaptors will accommodate both sizes.

I have never ordered from Crutchfield before but they "give" you "free" stuff for the install like the door adaptors and wire harness adaptors.
