from the factory?

it's 100% bone stock, so I am sure it is not modified.

we got this SUV last week, and my wife keeps comparing it to all the other tahoes we pass, and she says it is lower.

she's a short little shrimp, so it's easier for her to climb in & out.,

just wondering out loud....

and random question #2, how do i tell if it has the towing package?
it has the oil cooler in the radiator, because that was leaking oil (only finger tight, 13/16 tightened it right up)

It looks like a stock 2wd to me  may look lower due to the ground effects on it but if you look at the gaps between the tired and fenders in the wheel well it looks like a stock 2wd to me

I'm almost certain its a Limited because of the pin stripe, the fogs in the bumper, and the wheels.

---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 PM ----------

Found this on Wikepedia.

When the GMT800-based SUVs were released in 2000, a 2WD Tahoe Limited was produced for demand purposes. The Tahoe Limited offered several features, along with items borrowed from other GM SUVs. First and foremost, was the Z56 "Police Package" suspension/performance package first shown to the public at the 1996 Detroit Auto Show. Prototypes were made in green and blue, but production was limited to one color only - Black Onyx Metallic. The Limited had no roof rack, but was a standout in that it came factory equipped with a distinctive ground effects body kit, along front and rear fascias. Heavy-duty ABS brakes were borrowed from the Chevrolet Suburban. Bilstein 46mm shocks, front and rear anti-sway bars (borrowed from the Z71 Tahoe 4x4), a 4-speed 4L60E transmission (with transmission cooler), a 3:42 rear gear ratio, limited slip differential and an oil cooler rounded out the performance features standard on the 2000 Tahoe Limited.

The two-tone leather interior, a 120 mph (190 km/h) gauge cluster, an all black grille, Pilot fog lights set in the front bumper and an L31 5.7L Vortec V8 (tweaked to achieve 130+ mph) were among the standard features in the Tahoe Limited. The body sat 2" lower than normally aspired Tahoe's, and the Tahoe Limited is only GM production vehicle to have the special 16"x7" Ronal R36, 5-spoke, aluminum rims wrapped in 255/70R16 tires.

The Chevrolet Tahoe Limited Edition was offered for one year only - the 2000 model year, yet it was based on the first generation model platform. According to research, there were 27,148 produced during this model year, but no known exact numbers for just the limited edition. The original design of the Tahoe Limited was conceived by Jon Moss and badged as the "Tahoe SS" (concept introduced by GM on November 7, 1996). However, it is reported that GM disliked the idea of an "SS" at a time when insurance companies were already demanding higher premiums for SUVs.[2]

A Tahoe Sport was also produced that had a monochromatic paint scheme, distinctive front bumper, but different wheels. It is largely believe to be a Z71 model, but most do not possess the Z71 RPO code found in the glovebox.

It's definitely a Limited. I just don't think it's lowered.

Are you sure it's not the ground effects playing tricks with your eyes?

it does have the bilstien shocks,
it has blue sway bar bushings,

it the two tone seats (mine are cracked, good enough to use, but not show)

it will RUN.

we did a WOT launch this morning, after reading this.

just letting off the brake and punching gas, it turned the tires over.

it rides a bit stiff.

i dunno, it's just a neat truck with the foglights & rims.

wife real tickled with it, now that she read the WIKI article :)

Your Tahoe Limited appears to be at the stock ride height. 2WD versions are rare and stand out from the the 4WD crowd. I bought mine in '06 and immediately lowered it two inches.

Looks stock to me, btw you should call it a 99 tahoe if you go to a parts store as people don't know they made the obs limited and z71 for a short run in 2000. Here is my old truck

They aren't lowered, they just look low due to the ground effects. Your truck is no lower than all the other 2wd tahoes the kit just cleans up the body lines and covers the frame. The absence of a roof rack also makes the truck look lower.

...at adding photos.

Not good at this so hope it works this time. I'm not sure how to place them so here's a link: http://2000tahoelimited.shutterfly.com/pictures

I used Bell Tech to lower my Limited as well. Yes, be sure to plug in 1999 especially if you order anything online.

Bill, get rid of that shutterfly crap and load them on Photobucket, works great.
i can't figure out that SFly

get the link,
http://2000tahoelimited.shutterfly.com/pictures/14

then hit the IMG button above (the picture of the mountain)
and paste the link in the popup

that's NICE!
and it looks lower than mine, mine does have a huge tire gap.:gayflag:

well, the Z56 is installed, and that's an inch drop, right?

No... they ARE 2 inches lower... due to the Z56 package, its lowered to compensate for the handling and speed...

I can get the original bulletin from gm but trust me son, I know my limiteds. The Z56 package consisted of:

Different front springs (which supposedly lowered the trucks almost 1" but I tend to disagree)
De-arched rear springs for about 1/2" drop
One ton front sway bar
Burban rear sway bar
Bilstein HD shocks
1.25" thick front rotors
11" rear drums
120mph speedo
Different tune for the L31 (basically more timing and removed speed governor)
...and I believe they had a larger trans cooler as well as a p/s cooler

I parked next to my homie's 99 2wd 4dr and they both sat at the same height. I love the limiteds but they were certainly not 2" lower than a stock tahoe. Now back to the pics!!!
