iPad dash in the works....

thought I’d share my version of the iPad dash. It’s still a work in progress; let’s see if I can figure out how to post pics of my progress..... lol

This is as far as of gotten as of now. Once I finish getting all the pieces nice and smooth I’ll be getting that wrapped in matte black vinyl. Also going to do all of the rest of the interior trim pieces in black matte. I don’t really care for the wood grain look, and I really don’t understand why they put those couple of brushed silver pieces in there either. I think all of that will look much better in matte black all matching.

Thanks y’all!!! It’s taking a while to get it done with work/life, but I’m getting there. I’m not extremely happy about having to cut all the A/C control wires to extend them, but it is what it is. I tried to find some kind of extension harness with no luck.

Getting a little more done today.....

SPL Cartel bass knob will go in for the subs coming soon. 2 SA12’s in a ported box behind the 3rd row. I wanta get this dash done first before moving to that. I think dual batteries/big 3 and components will come before the subs. Wiring for the amp/subs will be done at the same time I do the batteries/big 3.

nice, hopefully the ipad is built well, some will occasionally do some weird things and will require the top right hand power button and home button to be depressed together at the same time in order to unfreeze/reset them so you may want to be sure to allow for some kind of pin to access the power button, just my .02 since the ipads can get glitchy over time.

The iPad slides in and out in a split second. I actually have a life proof case and mount and use it in my boat too.....

What are you using to hook it up to the speakers and subs?

Headunit will be Pioneer DEH-80PRS. Components will be hertz Mille 1650. iPad will hook up with charge cable in the dock to the rear usb on the headunit. Steering wheel controls will work. The other USB port and rca in on the back of the headunit will tie to a usb and aux port which will be in the console.... I’ll attach a pic of both of the ports that will be in the console portion.


The iPad gets power from the headunit and is jailbroken and set to where when it loses power it auto locks, and then when it receives power it Auto Unlock’s and resumes whatever it was doing when it locked. So basically when I start the truck it will be open and ready/playing music. When the truck stops the music stops and the iPad locks and turns off.

Where's the HU gonna be mounted?

Headunit will be mounted directly under the iPad. Notice the single din cutout slot on the dash bezel under the iPad?

Can you control the HU with the iPad? Like the tuner and tone levels, etc?
