Thanks JT...
I missed the specific area the where the version is, until your post. I'm at the same version as you: Y172.
Based on reading backwards, it seems as if the 'Fix' may cause more problems (steering wheel controls, fan control, etc.) so for now, leaving it alone. The few intermittent radio issues, while irritating, are minor.

So just waiting on GMC to figure out what to do with the L87 recall....as I frequently take 1,000 mile trips

Yep - the radio issues are much less of a big deal compared to the potential for our engines to fail on us, right?

I received an OTA update last night. First one of these OTA updates that I recall getting - the other software updates have been at the dealer. Although the update initially failed to install for me, it eventually installed successfully. Too early to tell if there is anything good to come from this update (e.g., whether it finally fixes the audio dropouts). I went from software version Y172.6.1 to Y177.6.1. See a few screenshots below.

Does anybody have access to GM Techline and can get me the USB download of that Y177 for my Tahoe? I have a 2021 with a 2023 IOK radio installed so I have to do this manually every time there is an update. I am currently on Y175 and hoping this fixes a few audio issues I am having.

Nevermind, I got it from Techline myself and updated it with USB. Now at 177.6.1 :)

Anyone notice any differences in the update from past?

After the update my radio still cuts out several times after starting, and now my maps take forever to load. in my case it went from bad to worse.

Oldish thread bump, but I've had my 2022 Yukon XL for about 14 months and it's always had the radio cutting out issue. Just looked at my current version and it's Y167.4.2, so clearly far behind. Is this something the dealership will generally update at no cost (I actually believe I have CPO coverage until June this year)? I tried checking for over the air updates and it's telling me there are none, which clearly isn't the case. I do see there is a TSB 25-NA-121 that appears to be the most recent version that should, I assume, update me to Android 12. Anyone have luck with that update?

Here is latest bulletin: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2026/MC-11027878-0001.pdf

I have an appointment Friday at my Chevrolet dealer because I have a variety of software defect issues, including the radio, screen and various electronic control settings.

I had this problem since day 1. GMC has known about it and issued TSB's. I had my truck in for an oil change and asked about a solution. Was told that there is a radio update but they wanted to charge me $200 because i was outside of b2b. After complaining they offered $50. I asked if they could guarantee it would fix the problem...answer, no! Went to the GM who comped the upgrade. Well it's worse!! Audio now cuts out up to 6-8 times upon start up. Maps and speed limit sign take forever to activate. Frustrating as hell. GMC has known about this issue for 4 years!!!

Yeah, so I took mine in last week and they did an update on the radio, but it didn't fix my issue at all. I think, like your experience, it may have made it a bit worse. My turn signal/chime didn't improve either. I did get upgraded to Android 12, so it wasn't a total waste of time. They're waiting for a backordered speaker to come in and once it does, I'm going to let them know that nothing has changed. I don't know what the root cause of the issue is, but it seems more and more like the entire head unit needs to be replaced. I'm curious if anyone that's had these issues was fortunate enough to have that done to see if it corrected the issue. I'm going to ask next time I'm in.

Just wanted to chime in here that, like everyone else, the audio cutouts seem to have gotten worse as the updates come through.

I also noticed that when my google maps was downloading offline map data it was making it so much worse. Once that completed it improved but it is still going in and out, just not as much. To me this really seems like a software issue which I think we all know but seeing as audio is almost a core function of any modern-day vehicle it's very surprising that GM still has not resolved this.
