Here you go!I have 2012 Tahoe z71 and when trying to open my hood in this cold Chicago weather the plastic broke. I haven’t been able to find a part# has anybody in here replaced it yet?
No. There’s a slot for the cable to be slid out of the handle, but I haven’t seen the handle sold without the cable.Thank you very much!! So the whole cable has to be replaced too? The plastic piece is what broke, I saw that they sell it for the early 2000s model? Thank you again for that quick response
Ok makes sense, thank you againNo. There’s a slot for the cable to be slid out of the handle, but I haven’t seen the handle sold without the cable.
going to be a lot easier to just have someone hold the hood latch open and just change the handle inside, holding the latch open allows you to disconnect the cable easily.Ok makes sense, thank you again
Whats your diagnosis on this latch situation? Ice cold winter up north, went to pop the hood to see where my evap solenoid is (chasing down a P0496) and the hood lever was hard to pull, after finessing it the hood popped open. Went to close it and it wont fully latch. The bead at the end of the wire at the handle came loose, no plastic seemed broken on handle or anything screwed up at latch/spring. However there is no tension. What do you think? Latch stuck or snapped cable?going to be a lot easier to just have someone hold the hood latch open and just change the handle inside, holding the latch open allows you to disconnect the cable easily.
Really hard to say you just kind of have to take a closer look at the latch and the spring and cableWhats your diagnosis on this latch situation? Spring on latch has strong tension. Just too tight to push down all the way into fully latched positionReally hard to say you just kind of have to take a closer look at the latch and the spring and cable
maybe the latch is fubar, have you been in a accident? does it look bent anywhere? it should latch easily.Spring on latch has strong tension. Just too tight to push down all the way into fully latched position
Yeah I was going to just the change plastic part, but seems like the plastic piece isn’t sold by itselfgoing to be a lot easier to just have someone hold the hood latch open and just change the handle inside, holding the latch open allows you to disconnect the cable easily.
for as little as it comes up on here it's not very common but can happen, I think I have seen a handful of post's since 2017How often do these handles fail? Would it be worthwhile to keep one on hand during road trips? I suppose if it came to it, a Vise-Grip levering against something else would work.
