I just rotated my tires and noticed some play in the front end and it appears i need to replace the idler and pitman arms on the hoe. I have never done any front end work and was curious how difficult replacing them would be?

I just replaced mine yesterday. It takes some time and special tools. But my car drives a lot smoother now. Check your tie rod ends as well and get an alignment afterwards as well.
