Has anyone ever ran with an Econoaid throttle body "BOOSTER"? I mean heck its only .032" thick and only costs $30. I think it would be worth a shot since they seem to have a good customer feedback. Just thought i would throw it out there for the hell of it.

No offense, but did you even read the sticky?

These types of devices are WORTHLESS on our kind of intake setup. Swirling the air before it reaches the intake manifold is useless. Doesn't matter how thick or how cheap the thing is. There are always companies out there looking to take people's money, and there are always people dumb enough to buy into it.

I apologize if I sound like a dick, but these products irk me - they are a waste of money and provide no practical benefit on vehicles such as ours with modern fuel injection systems. The older TBI setups, sure, they would help a little. But again, they do nothing for our trucks.

naww ur not a dick and yes i read the sticky. ur entitled to ur opinion and shit how can one not respect that. but i was just wondering if ANYONE in this forum had by chance heard of them or used them or hell even know of anybody that has used them. i was just realy curious cause most of the spacers out there that i have laid eyes on personally consist of a helical bore and are thick. this is the most different spacer i have seen considering the intruding fins. but hell its whatever..... and im a strong believer in what may not work for u may work for others

I'm with you man, it's all good. If you're looking at one just for the sound, then have at it.

But with the way our intake manifolds are set up, the performance gains are zero...you're swirling the air in the tube, before it's split up 8 different ways in the manifold and sucked into the cylinders. Any swirling that is imparted on the air charge is totally cancelled out before it can have any benefit.

BTW: Blackcoffee, that is a sick OBS 2-door, love it. :D

I've heard the nitrous express spacers net some solid gains.

ive used these spacers(the thick ones) not on my chevys but on my ''rice burners'' since thats how they mostly call them here. to my first hand experience i did notice a difference in lower rpm when i slowly open the throttle. i felt this slight pull from the engine never felt it before the install.

this aint design to mix air and fuel like people say it does. its design to make the air go into the manifold more easily by making a vortex/tornado after the throttle body.

ok think of a lets say sink full of water if you unplug the drain water will go down slowly but down right? simple. now do the same but this time create a vortex from the start, water will flow more easily.

thats it, thats what it does. it creates a vortex of air and gets the air into the manifold smoother. it works best at lower rpm or at partially open throttle since at wide open throttle the engine will just suck so much air so fast that vortex would be hard to form and if it did it would take a while to form.

the cheap ones are the ones that go inside your air intake tube even if they did created a vortex the shape of the intake would destroy it or it would be stopped by the throttle bodys butterfly. these go behind the throttle body and modify the air past the throttle where theres nothing to stop the vortex. so vortex forms inside your intake manifold. if your manifold is small or short it will not work for you maybe a little but not much. a big manifold that is straight like the 5.3s will work fine.

and if you ask me would i buy 1? yes i will it has worked for me i tried it not just heard/read it.

Rigo your theory makes some sense, but air follows the path of least resistance - basic fluid dynamics, right? Creating a vortex after the throttle body makes a little sense, but think about it...you're placing a device into the air path to create the vortex. Objects placed into the air stream will create friction, and friction will slow down the air flow. Wouldn't any velocity increase be negated by the device used to create it?

I still say they are a waste of money. However, that being said, if someone can show me some dyno gains using one, I will shut up about this subject. (and by dyno gains, I mean real world mechanically measured and documented dyno gains...no ass dynos). Max, I'll have to look into the NX spacers just to see whats up with them.

no it will not slow down the air. because the air is not being pushed in. its being sucked by the engine, if it was forced in like if it was boosted than it woudnt make a difference at WOT. but since the engine is sucking in the air like a vacuum it creates the vortex. blah blah blah.....

never mind i said anything. if you dont like it dont buy it simple. but like i said i had it, i used it, and felt difference. but please these arent meant to mix air and fuel together:laughing1:
