We have a 2001 Tahoe and a 2002 Tahoe I am wanting to add Hydro boost to both and NNBS front calipers and R-1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors. We already have Russell Stainless steel braided brake lines. The 2001 Tahoe has had to new ABS brains and a new pump. Still it will mess up so I pulled the fuse.

What I'd like to know is has any one swapped to a Hydro Boost brake setup before and if so what all is involved and what's the cost?
I am keeping both Tahoe's for the long haul both have been paid for and I have had the 2001 for 13 years now I got it new in 2000. So if its about $1K it's not a big deal. Do the parts need to be new or can I salvage them from donor vehicle ? Minus the brake calipers.

I had it on an 80s one-ton pickup, you should be able to find the components in a boneyard.I used the truck for many years and had to replace the hydraulic unit behind the master cylinder once with a Rockauto rebuilt unit for about $170.

The only challenge I guess would be the power steering/brake pump. The power steering pump runs both the steering and brakes.Mounting the pump and whether you can utilize it for the Tahoe power steering is a question.

Its a great trouble free system.I always took it for granted, never realized at the time that the hydroboost swap was a big deal in a bunch of custom applications. There has to be some folks here with specific Tahoe info.

you will need a hydro boost unit, the correct master cylinder, the pressure hose from the PS pump to the hydro boost, the pressure hose from the hydro boost to the PS unit. you might be able to get your stock brake line to work with some gentle bending. I would try to get it all from a bone yard. didn't they start using it on the 04-up?
you can get most of the parts from rockauto.com look up under Cadillac Escalade

hydro boost..... $180
MC................. $100
PSP to hydro boost hose $22
Hydro boost to ps box hose $17
these are the main items

You know for the cost, it makes it an effective brake mod. I know my Denali has a real soft pedal. It's been that way for the last 8 years and towing with it like I do it can sometimes give you that uneasy feeling. with my larger trailer I think that a hydro boost would be a good investment. Both of my Dodge 3500 dually's had the hydro boost and braking was never an issue.

hahaha, sorry man I'm in the same boat as you! I've never been happy with the brakes on my denali and have been tempted for years to switch to hydroboost! Might have to do it this summer, looks like Rockauto will be getting my business sometime soon! Thanks for the list of the bigger items livingez_123!
