How To Turn Ringing Off?

Just bought a 96 Tahoe. When the car is on and I open the door there’s a ringing noise like when you leave your headlights on and it beeps at you but it’s continuous and not beeping. Is this supposed to happen? If not, how do I stop it from doing that

In the old days there was a little silver buzzer under the driver's side dash that was the source of the offending noise and we just unplugged and threw it away.

Mine is a couple of years newer but it has a ringer/buzzer that reminds you that you have left your keys ni the ignition. I think if you pull the key out a couple of notches that the buzzer will go off.

Yours is functioning correctly, it will sound the chime whenever the driver door is open and the key is in the ignition or the headlights are on.

If memory serves, pull this black box off and it will silence the chime. Pretty sure that the box is the speaker. This is by the parking brake and may have a protective cover over it.

IMO if you ever leave your keys in the ignition and lock door you’ll be pissed done it sucked 60 miles from home cold rain no coat (locked in truck) triple AAA sent two morons had to break in myself all for an annoying buzzer proceed at your own risk
