I got a ipod adapter that plugs into the back of the head unit (Bose+onstar) and i used the positive cigarette lighter lead for power and the screw on the stock sub box in the center console for the ground. I later found out that the box is taking power from the truck even when off. Where should i connect the box to get power only when the truck is on?

Just pulled the unit out to get the truck back up and running. Ill wait a week or so until the truck is back to normal. What are those plastic things that make it easier to splice into current leads? I remember seeing it on a truck TV show
