Well after siting in the backyard for 6mnths after I bought it, I guess its time to do something. So I yanked the 305 (5.0l) and replaced it with a very hot 0miles 408(6.7l) engine. Tranny will be upgrade to a th400 with a higher stall soon.

Here are some pics of the progress. But the future plans, are to move the SS 20s from my Tahoe to the burb, with a slightly bigger tire. As I plan to lift the burb 3" taller for the stance I want. It will also be painted black like the tahoe, same theme, black grill, bumpers etc. Plan to upgrade the Tahoe to SS 22s.

Here is a better pic of the wheels, Im moving to the burban. Im going to be using billet wheel adapters, as the burban is a C10. But it will pretty much have the same theme as my Tahoe. Hoe is getting SS 22s. Its lowered, Burb is getting lifted, and being built for tuff duty.

yea, Im no where near Alabama, but i do all the work myself, and I wouldnt call myself a mechanic. But my wife seems to, tell all her friends this. I just have some basic tools, and can use a hand rachet, no power tools, or compressor. It can be done if you want too. You can rent a engine hoist, or have a friend loan you theirs, like I do. Also craiglist has hoist all the time for 30-60$.... Once you swap the engines and they are on the mounts you can return the hoist. Its simple writeups. It takes planing, to have everything disconected ahead of time. The actually swap may only take about 20-30 mins.

How about interior?

Here is the truth about the interior, its gutted, I threw everything in the trash, ripped headliners out, carpet, plastics, dash out of the truck. The previous owner did a f&^ked up job painting everything including the carpet white. It looked like some 70s fiasco in their. So I striped it all out and put it in the dump.

The results are 100% better in my book, and alot of weight lost out of the vehicle which is a good thing, I told my wife, I may just keep the interior like this. The body is immaculate under all that crap I removed. And its simple.

Here some more interior shots of how Ill be rocking it out.

Its just teasing me right now. 480hp 450lbs just waiting.

the old 305 (5.0L) [this engine would anilate the tires with 3.42 gears]
031a24b4.jpg

the 408 (6.7L) [This thing is going to be CRAZY powerfull!]
351c4d15.jpg

Combine that with 4.30 gears, and a detriot trutrac on 33s, its going to be insane & fun.

Thanks for the comments guys, I will provide more pics and give more info as questions arise. Im so close to getting it started, but so many lil things to do. But my main goals these next weeks are to get it lifted and painted.

Today, I may tint the windows on the burb 5% as I just picked up 5 rolls last week. :D

Man I use to have a 89 that hauled ass. Loved that burban. Your well on your way to having a fun kickass ride. Personally I would have left the white guts for now but its a 85 so who the hell cares right...Keep us posted bro I want one of those down the line again. Love the fact your putting in a 408 motor. I just did a motor swap on my 97 and it wasnt so bad. Good thing was weather was nice for the 2 weeks I slowly did it.

thanks guys, I found a picture online, not of my truck, but mine will look similar with the black 20s, mine being SS wheels, I think this guys has KMC wheels on his 85. he also has more lift than me 6", while im shooting for 3" with 33s. His wheels are diffenately too small for his lift, but it gives an idea of how tuff my truck will looks with the black wheels, lifted, and painted black. After alot of searching this is the only thing that I found that will look similar to what Im planing.

Hopefully the SS 20's!!!

He may have bigger issues to work out other than nice rims at the moment ;) Those usually come last in a project like this :D

thanks guys, its lots to still do... 1st is to get this new motor started. lol

got everything button up yesterday, but timing is a bit off, so got to check that over today from scratch. So it should be fired up very soon, then next is the exhaust that consist of a ORY pipe into the stock muffler no cats. Also need a high performance mechanical fuel pump, and someone to set this Holley 750 right.

I need to get my springs ordered for the 3" and get the blocks from parts store. Also get the wheel adapters ordered after that. Then bolt up the SS 20s. Then call it my DD.

But just hearing that motor turn over yesterday sounded GOooooD
