Help with rear brakes

Have a 2003 suburban that says it's a z71. I ordered z71 rear brakes and rotors. The rotors are much thicker and the pads seem to be for a dual piston caliper. Can I upgrade to the larger rear discs and calipers without any other mods than the new rotor and caliper? And what caliper should I get? The rotors seem to be ever so slightly taller as well

Let's do this in steps:
1. Says it's Z71-where-on a badge on the side or back of vehicle?
2. Vacuum booster brakes or hydraulic brake booster?
3. You bought as a Z71? Does it say Z71 in the RPO code list in glove compartment?
4. Some people will add Bilstein shocks and skid plates and then badge their vehicles with Z71 tags on them.

This should also be in the Engine & Drivetrain section for the brakes.

What brand and part numbers do you have for what you bought and where did you buy them? At Amazon, RA, dealer, AutoZone, O'Reilly's....where and what brand and what part numbers?

The fronts were just fine. Now that I have big rotors and pads I'm thinking about picking up the dual piston calipers from oreillys tomorrow. It seems like the best thing to do at this point.

Yes you can, (the rotors,) the pads and caliper, (with bracket for that caliper) on the rears is all you need.

Don't buy that detroit axle kit. If you are buying new front brakes: there is the NNBS front brake upgrade. Very little price difference if you are buying the components anyways. For the fronts, its a larger rotor a dual piston caliper vs your factory single piston, and a much larger pad. If you really want to go all out there is the 2020+ 4 piston caliper. Which is always great, but still about 2-3 times as much, and kind of overkill for most people.

The NNBS brakes started in 2005, but had a design change in 2007 for the NNBS. If you get new brakes the 2005-2019 (order 2008 and higher) will fit right on. You just need 17" wheels for them to fit. The 4 piston needs 18" and not all fit easily.

I know right? I was very confused. It's a legit z71 with single piston calipers. I just picked up the calipers today.
