Heater Blower linkage probs... need help

Thank you in advance guys.

I have a 99 Tahoe. The linkage you mentioned in a post that's is above and to the right of the gas pedal. The ends of the rods have rectangular holes where they should go together. It looks to me like I have a part missing between the two. Is that correct or do these two rectangular openings lock together somehow?

which parts are you missing you think?

The two rods of the linkage that have the rectangular holes in the ends. I'm thinking there's a piece that fits between those two rods and fits in the rectangular holes.
