Headight Replacement

2004 Yukon. Drivers front headlight bit the dust. Before I go buy a repalcement lamp thought I would get some input from you guys.

Replacement suggestions appreciated. Also should I go a head and change out
both headlights?

Which headlight is so bright that it tends to blind oncoming drivers? I do not want to go that route, but do not mind spending some extra cash to upgrade.

That would be HID's, unless you put them in a set of projectors. You could go with those two for about $200 for both housing and bulb. Or, just get two new Sylvania/any other brand you may like, lights for $50 and call a day.

Also, if you do go with halogens go ahead and replace both bulbs.

Since you have a Yukon, get Denali projector headlights. They fit right in and are better in general and much better if you decide to go with HID's.

Went by Advance Auto and they have a sale going on Sylvania headlights. I figured I would go with Halogen replacements, but sales person suggested I go with Sylvania HID Xenon. Pretty good deal on bulbs, but still concerned with blinding oncoming drivers. Am I being too cautious based on GZES comment that "hids only blind if in wrong headlights"?

If they are at Advance Auto, they most likely aren't actually HID's, they are simply halogen bulbs colored to look like xenons. Don't get them. They suck.

Unless they come with a seperate box-like thing in the wiring (the ballast), they ARE NOT HID. If it's simply a bulb you pop in your headlight with no other wires or anything, it's just a halogen bulb and marketing you're buying.

Here, I'll make it easy. If it doesn't look like this, it isn't HID:

Don't put the above kit in standard Yukon headlights. That IS the annoying and dangerous kind of light that we are talking about. At the very least, replace your headlights with Denali-style projector headlights like these and get the HID kit:
