I have an 01 suburban. To put an HD hood on it, do I just need to buy one of the same year as my truck? Are they direct replacements?

Also I have found a site with them, but can anyone recommend others.

The headlight section has to be cut out, like this...

Boy this has to be the most asked question on this forum and has been answered many many times.

For your 01 Burb you need to buy a 99-02 Silverado 2500 or 3500 HD Hood

It's a straight bolt on replacement and can be bought at www.partstrain.com
$231

Nope, its huge and heavy....shipping is going to cost a lot. Don't forget that paint will run you easily $200ish+ if you have a shop do it.

I found one locally for $203...but when I called them to pay for it they said its part of a front end and they dont want to break it up right now. Found another one that is less than a mile away in a salvage yard but this ******* wants $375!! Still looking.

Just got off the phone with them and he said he would take $300 and he said its "dark gray" My truck is the Charcoal gray...I wonder if this is the same color. I only know of one dark gray that these came in and that's my color. I tried to get him down to $250 but he ain't budging. I am guessing its not gonna get much better than this considering, if I did get one for $200 chances are its not gonna match and I would have to paint it.....but I was wanting to paint the top half of my truck anyway. Decisions decisions.

I am also torn on this or getting a BB Tune before they leave the state.

Fab wouldn't be anything, it bolts right on. Painting though might run you $150-$200

You can always match your paint color to his via paint code in glove box, and BB-Tune you can get via mailing in your PCM:Handshake:
