My hazards stopped working. When I push in the button nothing happens, except it does prevent the turn signals from working, so I think the button is working.

What controls the flashers?

Thanks

The power in the circuit lights the bulbs and the resistance of the bulbs loads the mechanical flasher and makes it "flash". Many times the dirt in the switch is what causes the switch to not work. You can try some contact cleaner sprayed into the switch and work the switch over and over and see if they start working.

I looked at your ignition cylinder picture and it appears you have the old style turn signal switch with the small round button. That switch is pretty simple and cleaning should work. It's cheap and easy to replace if you do need to go into it and you will have to lift the switch to get to the retainer for the ignition cylinder if you access it for repair.

You could try just spraying through the hole where the button is. I'd try just turning the flashers on and off a bunch and see if anything happens.
