Lift Gate opens when not wanted,
Buckle your kid in on right side and walk around and drive off-----
Lift gate opens and all your stuff is left on the road with people flagging you down
go around to the back to wash rear window - lift gate opens
--- your key fob knows your intensions- how else could Chevrolet come up with such a downgrade

Will there be a 2024 return kit to fix this?

Pics of the truck, please.

Yeah......... That's a problem for sure. Sounds like its dealer warranty work time.

Just on the off-chance.... I've had this happen on my 2021 Yukon a few times but, I believe it was due to pocket clicking of the FOB. Not saying this is you're case but mention it just in case.

I’ve only had one issue when I was washing the truck (‘22 Denali). Lift was open and I was vacuuming the back. My foot activated the sensor and I almost got eaten up. Thankfully I noticed in time and was able to slip out lol. Now I’m more aware of my feet position when back there.

It also had me thinking, if your walking up with both hands carrying items that you can't hit the button on the gate to raise it standing on one foot while waving the other is not really ideal loosing your balance then boom your on the ground.

This sounds like user error. Turn off the kick-to-open setting if you trip it all of the time.

The kick-to-open hands free lift-gate feature is one of the dumbest features on my new 2024 Tahoe Premier 4WD. I turned it off upon purchase. I’d much rather have a grab handle on the left front A-pillar.

My wife bought a new 2025 Chevrolet Equinox RS AWD. The hands-free lift-gate is even worse on that vehicle. The rear hatch will open if it senses the remote fob on the left rear of the vehicle. We also turned off that stupid feature too.

The ‘25 is not kick to open like previous. Now it is a proximity sensor. Even more sneaky. You would think this would be standard on the hc, not. You have to buy rear seat video screens, technology package.

We have a 2025 Yukon Denali. This is a new feature for 2025 replacing the sensor that required your foot to activate under the rear bumper.
Took a while to get used to this new auto tailgate lift feature. It will only open if you stand behind the vehicle for a length of time. If you just walk behind, it should not open. If you don’t like the feature, you can turn it off in the menu on the center screen.

Gotta be careful with the STUPID 2025 lift gate sensor!!!

Neighbor has a 2025 and he had his car in the garage with the garage door shut. He pulls his vehicles in to the front wall and walks behind the vehicles to access the house.

He walked behind the truck between the garage door and rear of the truck, heard the lift gates start to open and had to grab the lift gate and force it to stop lifting before it hit the garage door. Guess what, he has disabled this feature because it detects him walking behind the truck so he cannot have this feature enabled on his vehicle. He must walk behind his truck to get to and from the house door. So this is a feature he cannot have enabled even if he wanted to use it.

The 2024 and earlier is much better IMHO. I had some issues at first getting used the foot kick. Thought you needed to swipe sideways if the sensor did not detect your foot. DO NOT SWIPE your foot, kick and leave your foot elevated for a second and the sensor will detect your foot.

I turned mine off on my 2021 Suburban. When I was washing it, it would open. GM is not the only company to have that feature, many others do also.

Just out of curiosity, I see several comments about 'turning it off' but how does one do this? I don't remember seeing an option on my 2021 Yukon software vehicle settings but maybe I missed it.

I know that there are options to be able to kick-to-open but not kick-to-close, for example -- so I think that right there with those options in the option to not have it open or close with a kick. But, I'd have to go back and see if that's true.

I was able to turn off my kick-to-open rear tailgate feature in one of the settings’ menus. I don’t recall which one.

I’ve already thought some of the settings’ menus are confusing, with some features on odd locations.

But if you sit in the vehicle and play around, you’ll find it.

You are talking about two different features. Approach and foot access.

I turn all that stuff off.. no problems after u do that and no parasitic battery drain opportunity

That's pretty much the exact scenario the kick-to-open is designed for. But if you know your balance isn't any good, then I recommend not using the feature. lol

Are you stating the lift gate opens with the vehicle in gear and moving? If so there are several things wrong. To my knowledge the power liftgate should not operate when in gear.
