Can anyone tell me what the oil pressure specification is for my 2007 6.2 liter denali? the dealer doesnt want to get back to me... from what i reasearched its suppose to be:
1000rmp- 6 psi minimum
2000rpm- 18 psi
4000rpm- 24 psi
is this correct?
I am running full synthetic the 5w30 with lucas full syn. stabilizer.
thanks for the help.

If you have 6 psi at 1000 rpm with any eng, your eng sucks! I would run thicker oil before i ran with a number that low.

here is an update:
spoke with the GMC dealer.
Specs - 24psi @ 1000rpm
38psi @ 3000rpm
PSI deviation running Full syn. is probably 5 psi(guesstimate)
I am going to replace the sending unit and see if that give me a solution.

Sounds like the oil pump or the O ring off the pick up tube is busted. Its a simple repair but if you dont get the front cover bolted up properly it will leak.

OP, I believe those ratings that you read are "minimum" service ratings. If my engine had that low of oil pressure I'd freak. I would expect 24 psi at a minimum at idle. Also, adding higher viscosity oil is not a good idea, simply a poor band-aide. It actually could cause an oil related failure (spun bearing etc...).
