IMO...If I'm saving $17 to $20 per fill up I could get 5 mpg less per tank and still be saving I think.

See my previous post. I get probably 1 to 2 mpg less for the tank but saving $17 to $20 per fill up I'm still saving quite a bit per tank. Now if there was only 20 cents difference it wouldn't be worth it but a complete dollar per gallon is pretty huge!

I did not see in this thread where you got only 1 to 2 mpg less. That is pretty good then. When I tried it a few times I was at ~16 mpg in the city on 87 then on E85 I was getting ~11.5 mpg, which is typical. All this is when I was stock and hand calculating mpg. In my case, if gas was $3.62 then at 11.5 mpg E85 would need to be $2.65 just to break even.

that explains why Exxon is $.12-$.15 higher than Hess around here lol..

In my neck of the woods, Exxon is pretty much the same price as any of the other major brands, which is great for me!!

Just paid $3.99 for the cheap stuff this morning in Flint, Mi. Bought myself a Malibu about 6 weeks ago. Esclakon hasn't been out of the garage since.

I also bought an additiional car a 03 Eclipse about 3 and half weeks ago. Let me tell you I love the little ride but I do miss my Yukon XL. I haven't moved the Yukon since I bought the Eclipse. I drive about 270 miles a week so I was too ******* my wallet and still try to mod my yukon. I fill up the Eclips with $47 and I just paid $3.89 a gallon 87 in Kennewick, WA today.

The question is with that line of thinking will you just let the Yukon (and feel free to insert any larger vehicle in there) sit all summer and part of fall hoping that the price drops back down for gas??? If the price never gets below $3.50 per gallon again what will you do then? It's cool having a custom kon/hoe/burb/esky or whatever but does no good if you can't afford to drive it. Say you go out and buy a $6k "fuel efficient" car and think about how many tanks of gas you can get for that $6k rather than buying an additional car. The equation gets thrown off even more if you're making payments on said additional car. The math just doesn't work out in any facet

Exxons are on major hwys here, that's the difference. i am stuck with Hess (not so bad but i would LOVE to reap the benefits of that CC you have! lol

i just got back from an 1800 mile road trip and tried E85 on one of the fill ups and i went from 19mpg hwy to 14.5 and from 14mpg city to 10.5mpg. It would have to be more than a $1 cheaper to make me want to try it again. The E85 was only $.35 less, so it ended up costing me more vs. using the 87.

I always use Chevron premium in my Denali. Get $.10 off with their CC. Premium is $3.79 here now so my fill ups are in the $80-100 range but that is for about 2 weeks of city driving. At least I know my wife doesn't have to worry about the idiot in a Smart car or Aveo. Both would probably bounce right off if they are not run over.

And we are about to take a 6k or so trip starting Memorial Day weekend from Utah to NY/NJ/PA/VA and back. I figure about 300 gallons of gas or so, lets say $1500 max for gas, another $100 x 6 for lodging (staying with family back east) That is $2100 total.

According to Orbitz it is $2100 for airfare and rental. That is pre arrive at airport cost and not counting for rental car gas, about 2000 miles worth. You don't travel with two kids for 2000 miles in an econobox, at least not enjoying it so a large sedan would probably use about 80 gallons of gas.
Bag fees, at least one bag per person so that is another $200 RT.

So it is still cheaper to drive a big SUV. Could take the Impala SS and save about 50 gallons of gas but the Denali rides so much nicer. I don't mind traveling when prices are high because it keeps a lot of people home.

You earn rebates of $0.15 per gallon on eligible gasoline purchases made at Exxon and Mobil stations in the United States ("Exxon and/or Mobil Gasoline Purchases"). You earn rebates of up to 2% on other eligible purchases ("Other Purchases") you make each year as follows: 0.5% on your total annual Other Purchases up to $999; 1.0% on your total annual Other Purchases over $999 and up to $5,999; 2.0% on your total annual Other Purchases over $5,999 and up to $10,000; and 1% on your total annual Other Purchases over $10,000.

I've been using the card for over a year. Still getting the rebates, $10 here and there applied to my monthly bill. I don't think there is a limit on this card. It's help reduce the sting of gas prices.

Just to clarify, this is an Exxon Mobile Mastercard through Citi.
