if you have the 6.2 it already has the larger size exhaust so just a muffler is all that you need, if it is the 5.3l I would shop around a local muffler shop can build you something for less than a pre-made one.

Check out the thread titled below. I added a muffler on my 2021, same as I did
on my 2017. Very happy with it. Let me know if you have questions.

Suitcase muffler delete/replacement.

if your just doing it for sound I would just swap the muffler as the system is not that bad really, but if your going for more major mods later then I would consider doing something more.

New user here. 2015 Yukon Denali. I just replaced my stock muffler with the 18” magnaflow 12259 and I could not be happier with it. I’ve had the vehicle since 2014, and I feel foolish for not doing this from the first day.

As the previous user above mentioned, a cat back isn’t going to free up the flow on this vehicle.

I was worried the 18” might be a bit much for my preferences in terms of noise, but it isn’t at all. No drone. Sounds much better then stock even at idle, and when you get on it the sound is much better than the flow master in my opinion. It has a deeper tome to it for sure.

I’ve seen other posts mentioning that it sounds the same as stock for a month and gets better. But my experience was that it sounds way better than stock day 1 and only gets better.

If you get the series starting with 11 instead of 12, it just means it is a 4x8x18 instead of 5x8x18. So I guess that’s for those who want to lower their vehicle if needed. Not sure what difference it would make on sound.

That’s my $0.02 anyway. Hope it helps.

I posted this on a similar thread a while back... really like the upgrade to my 07 LTZ 5.3.

From other post: I have a 2007 Tahoe and went with Kooks headers. I can feel a definite increase in power and really like the sound. Went with long tubes with x-pipe and true dual Magnaflows out the back.

the Kooks are not cheap, but the flanges are thick and the pipes are very strong. Here’s more information about what I installed.

Good luck with your build!
