like i said, that universal adapter is a waste of your time, you will fiddle with that thing for hours and if you are EXTRA lucky, you might get it to disconect the line... you need to get the leslie tool.

however, the question is still valid and what you need to do is, take the two peices of that disconector and slip them over the male end of the fuel filter itself. then slide it under the connection line... what you are attempting to do is lift the connection from the inside. even with the leslie tool, this is going to require a little bit of jerking around to get done as these "quick connects" are anything but!
