Small needle nosed pliers would be my suggestion.
I have the Stanley Fat Max 3 pc Mini Plier set for working on my Air Guns.

I said **** it and gave up
Nice.
If you unplug the connector and pull the lock it would have been easier but like you said, **** it. Thats how my day has been too.
