Well, not really that far but we took a little 2 hour freeway trip up to Portland today. I was really impressed with this thing's freeway manners. The adaptive cruise works very well and I averaged 23mpg for the day, including the trip home from Costco to get gas!

I'm sure it won't be quite that stellar when I set the cruise higher than 65 but it's still a damn sight better than my 2012 3/4ton.

Yeah thats flat out amazing considering the size of the rig and the size and power of the motor.

I was amazed that it could stay in V4 mode most of the time.

It is. There's a few sections around Salem and just getting into Portland where all the cylinders were needed.

That's nice! About the v4 mode it does seem that GM has improved that feature in this generation in both the SUV and truck sector. My dad has a '14 silverado and says it stays in V4 mode a lot longer and more frequently as well which is a LOT better than it used to do :) Good to hear that it was a good drive.

No kidding! My 2010 Suburban had the cylinder deactivation. It had almost no power and the transition at the limit was pretty rough unless you really goosed the throttle. On the 2015 it's smooth and can even drive up the small hills around my house at 25mph.

Phil now that you have some time behind the wheel, I have two questions:
Have you found a transmission temp gauge?
Is that a digital read out of the gauges shown in your picture? Can you program the display with other display options?
Thanks

There are a few options for customization but not as many as I might like. Although I haven't tried it yet, the manual indicates that the transmission temp gauge pops up when you put it in tow/haul mode. I will verify soon and take a picture for you.

In tow/haul mode the voltmeter is replaced with trans temp gauge

I got 20.1 today from Reno to Elko with the cruise set at 78. Adaptive cruise just about got me rear ended going up a hill with a slight curve when i caught up with a slow truck and it thought we were behind the truck and it slammed on the brakes. Never thought i would have a car with cruise that i couldnt always use. I love driving this thing but some of the quirky stuff bothers me.

Yeah, the manual mentions that as a possibility and they recommend not using ACC in those situations. Seems like bullcrap to me.

Agreed...I find the ACC system frustrating. Just posted in the Electronics sub-forum that I find the following distance just too close at 75 MPH.

Also, found a similar situation with the Yukon not being able to determine which lane a truck was in (not mine) when we were rounding a gentle curve and applying the brakes hard thinking the truck was in my lane. Not fun at 75 MPH.

Never had this happen before on any other car I've owned with ACC. Hoping there's a software fix that happens soon since it makes the system dangerous. GM should have built in appropriate following distances at high speeds and should have programmed the system much better to determine which lane traffic ahead is in around curves.

It can't be that difficult since other manufacturers make really competent Adaptive Cruise Control systems.

They have 3 separate settings. Are you using the furthest?

Yes...it's definitely set to "Far". That seems to put the Yukon 30-35 feet (roughly 3 car lengths) from the bumper of the car in front of me. At 75 MPH highway speeds in my state, that's just too close (at least to me).

Other cars I've owned with Adaptive Cruise Control in their "Far" mode seem to have about 5-6 car lengths (50-60 feet) from the bumper of the car in front of me, which is a much more comfortable following distance at Highway speeds.

I agree, the far is too close at high speed. Technically it is three seconds behind but still too close to be comfortable.
