Greetings. So I have this insanely loud occasional fan noise recently. It goes away on its own, but in the meantime is unbearably loud. The engine is not overheating - pinned right at 210 which is about what all my GMs have run in the past. There's no change in temp before, during, or after the fan noise, either. It's not specific to warmer days, not specific to cold starts, not specific to wet or dry conditions, nor is it specific to idling. Just happens, annoys tf out of me before stopping a little while, or an ignition cycle or two, later.

Sounds like fan clutch is misbehaving, no? If so, are they a PITA in these trucks? Last I changed one was over a decade ago. If not the fan clutch, ideas appreciated.

40k miles - too early for this ****.

Thanks

True, I thought it was electric but didn't research it yet - it seemed like clutch fan symptoms. So is there a switch that may be at fault?
