Need to take it to a dealer installed on the vehicle so they can unlock it. i think they use a tech2 not to sure on that.

The part numbers you gave me showed 2 types but have narrowed down to the 10357886 which also crosses to 25916154. Neither show me a unit with a cassette player. The 15927261 is just an am/fm radio.

should be able to do it with a tech2 otherwise the dealer can do it at the service entrance, they press some buttons and get a code and then call gm and get a new code and they put the code in the radio and you are on your way.

I can get the right unit at Amazon and they are unlocked. Don't know how that works when I install it and it plugs in and for some reason does not need to be unlocked.

@915_Tahoe, if you get a chance can you ask that tech how a refurbished unit at Amazon can be sold advertised as "Unlocked" and if that is possible to just plug in and install and will work right then? I do appreciate the help with this.

They can be unlocked by outside sources then once you plug it to your vehicle it grabs your vin and is now locked to your vin until removed and unlocked again. Part of the theft deterrent system.. you can’t just take it from 1 truck to the other without unlocking it first.
