ok so I used to have an aftermarket head unit/sub/amp and all that and when they installed it all they bypassed the factory amp (I have the Bose system). But now everything got stolen and I just want to have a factory system again. So when i plugged in the stock head unit I get music but there is no bass and the volume doesnt go very loud at all.
My question is do I have to un-bypass the factory amp? Can this be done? If so how do I go about doing it? Im definitely not an expert on this stuff so walk me through it. By the way I have a 2003 Yukon

You will have to take the bypass out. Factory head units usually are not made to work without an amp, so that's why you are not getting much sound. I'm not sure how they hooked up your aftermarket amp and sub, did they run all new wiring or did they use the factory wiring? If they ran new wiring, then you just need to find your factory wires and hook them up.

If everything was aftermarket, I suspect the main speakers were also replaced? I would guess they ran all new wires to the new speakers so I'm surprised you have any sound at all. Did they replace the Bose tweeters in the A pillars? I wonder if that's what you are hearing. You'll probably need to pop the door panels and hook up the door speakers to the factory harness. You'll have mixed results though depending on what you had replaced in the door. Are we talking about factory speakers? Aftermarket? Coax or components?

The aftermarket system had aftermarket wiring to under my rear seat then off to the sub in the back from there. I did not replace any of the door speakers or tweeters, just the amp and sub.
But how do i take the bypass out? Your gonna have to walk me through this. I know the factory amp and sub are in the center console and I've popped out the cup holder and looked down there and i dont really see many wires that are unplugged. all i see is a little black plastic box-thing thats about 2 or 3 inches by 5 or 6 and it looks like it used to have wires plugged into it but it doesnt any more. any ideas?

yes, you'll need to rewire everything ( and possibly) remove the added LOC's they installed the first time.
