Hey for awhile my Service Engine Light has been on in my 2000 Tahoe, so i went and got it checked out, and the guy at autozone said it was something wrong with my purge valve/ canister... im a little lost to be honest, can someone explain it to me, and how to fix it.

I googled some stuff and it looks like it has something to do with the gas tank. If I were gonna take a guess at what might be the problem, look at your gas cap if the seal is all dry rotten and cracked it might be leaking and need replacement. But again that is a guess. If you can get the exact code I can look it up and maybe get you some more information.

Ok, it is the gas cap more than likely. If not you have a leak, in the evap system. Good luck, hope its the cap.
