Alright, so i finally got a chance to look at the two instrument clusters side by side....definitely going to need to take things apart. the issue is the lights on the edges on the esky IC. Other parts look like GM was considering putting that IC into other vehicles and had other provisions....I'll see what i can finger out on it as i find spare time

Just an update.. the only thing so far that doesn't seem to “work” is the trip meter 1-2 … the mileage will dash will flash when you start the truck and disappear, will see it keeps going up as you drive it

You will need to send the IC in to get programmed to work with the HUD and get everything else working correctly. The main thing holding me up from doing what you did is the gaps at the top of the IC into the bezel area.

The other thing holding up any of my progress is my sister needing a vehicle while hers gets repaired, so since I'm a nice brother i guess she gets to borrow my spare rig which i'm not entirely happy with...But i should hopefully have it back in another week or two. Now that the wife has cleared her plants off the table i might even get to tear down the ICs non-destructively to see about transferring the Esky internals into the Burb case so that the mismatch in the shroud isn't there. That's my hopeful goal

And even if i achieve my goal, i think the same cuts will need to be made to the back side of the dash

Which bezel are you talking about? Looks like the main issue is the lens. I fully dissasembled both units. Even with putting the screen inside the suburban case it won't work quite right. The darn lights are to far outside of the lense cavity. And they don't need to be that far out. gm Used a big screen and then covered most of it up... the actual lights are LEDs on a circuit board in the back. The side wings are just refractors too enhance and move the lights 90 degrees. I could possibly cut and mix and match some stuff and then build some extension covers possibly...... going to think on this too decide which way i want go go. But some pictures

Im. Going to meet up with my buddy that has a 3d printer this week. He might be able to make a new lense that mounts to the aluminum frame of the esky, but has the physical dims of the suburban lens to mesh the two together for a perfect fit

@BigPac just to be sure. The upper 2 mounting holes worked, but you had to make new bottom holes correct? In terms of mounting to your burb? Those holes look like they line up

Also, thinking about it a bit more. It might be easiest to make some filler panels off the Esky bezel to fill up to the suburban trim panel....that will likely be the cheapest and easiest way to go about it.

i'll be curious to see how that turns out. I thought about going that route, but was worried to much will be visible after hacking the two together Guess between the two of us, we will see which finishing method turns out better

I also started buying everything to do the HUD upgrade as well as starting down adding android auto to my 15. Still upset it didn't come with those features, but like i've always said. If you buy a car that doesn't have everything you want, you can always add it alter

I cut the bottom ones off flush on the escalade cluster, put the cluster in its place, bolted the lower brackets back in the factory holes using the "lower" holes to hold it up, the top ones do not line up either but you can use a screw still. My cluster is just held in place with the trim piece, it doesn't move, or can move it. it could be adjusted a little higher and to the right a bit. but not going to secure it till i make the trim piece

Interesting. When i lined up the cases it looks like the top mounting holes might line up But that's the joys of doing it in my position, where the sister is still using it and might for another week or two....i just want my rig back so i can waste money on our "beater" is that to much to ask? not my fault my sister can't afford to fix her car and needs to borrow our spare one....sometimes i don't like being the nice brother....

another thing i noticed that is off, in Manual, the gear identification starts at 3-8. guess because the 5.3 only came with 6 speed and escalades came factory with 8
